see different patterns emerging in their
business. For one thing, they've noticed a
willingness on the part of local customers to
spend more money for such things as
wedding gifts. They've noticed too as many
other operators of businesses that have many
tourist visitors that last season saw a good
many more Canadian tourists on the roads
making up a bigger percentage of tourist
traffic. And there are many more people from
European countries coming to the shop in the
last couple of years.
Their own business has changed a lot in
those 10 years too. For one thing the stock has
grown tremendously to the point where every
square inch of the little store seems to be
crammed with merchandise. When they
began they didn't have much money to put
into stock but over the years they've slowly
built up the stock and upgraded the quality of
the merchandise. Then too they opened the
basement as a shopping area doulbing the
size of the store and this year will make use of
a stock room to expand the store even larger.
That idea in the middle of the night has
come a long way.
