If decor is an important part of the dining
e\perience for vou, than The Garage is
ertainly going to be a treat
The Game tilt -up station unlike any
other It indeed used to be a garage, and the
whole decor is based on that thence Most
spectacular of the attempts to recreate the
garage atmosphere in a modern dining
establishment are the rephi.n ut .inliclue cars
(hat grace the premises from the front door all
he way to' the rear of the building
The Garage features smorgasbord The
trouble with smorgasbord is that some people
love it a., a way of dining out, and others
dislike it 1 here are advantages and
disadvantages At best it can give a diner a
chance to sample a wider variety of foods than
normally (not to mention eat more) but at
worst it can be a little too much like an
assembly line for some people's tastes
Our party of four presented a motley crew
as Ihe\ entered The Garage one sno5\'y night •
two ladies on diets and two very hungry
gentlemen
It's fair to say that it you can't find
something of your choosing at The Garage,
you're a very choosy person. The salad bar,
for instance presented an infinite variety of
combinations of salads, pickles, cold meats
etc. It would be easy to make a whole meal
just as this section. The ladies on diets made
good use of the salads
Variety was also the name of the game at
the meat counter. Trying to make a choice
between roast beef rare medium, roast beef
well done, ham, barbecued beef and chicken
can be one of the toughest choices a diner has
to make especially when •they're sitting
deliciously right there in front of you. The
gentlemen,• gluttons that they were, decided
to solve the problem by coming back for more
a second time around. The beef, whether the
medium rare or the well-done proved a great
choice. It was delicious. Rice and / or oven
browned potatoes were a good addition. The
other vegetables were rather ordinary. The
barbecued beef, on the second time around
for the gentlemen was rather a disappoint-
ment after the excellent beef. It seemed too
dried out. Even such avid consumers couldn't
manage to sample the other meats.
