Lucknow WI enjoys turkey dinner
By Mary MacGillivray
Members and guest of. the Lucknow
Women's Institute sat down to a delicious
turkey dinner provided by the ladies of the
Anglican Church on Tuesday.
Grace Gibson chaired the meeting which
followed. She read a Christmas poem. A
number of Christmas carols were sung by
all with Mary MacGillivray at the piano
and Noma Campbell leading in the sing-
ing. Winnifred Gammie gave a Christmas
reading followed by the motto by' Grace,
"Peace will come when the power of love
is greater than the love of power." She left
much food for thought. More carols were
sung and Annie Shiells spoke on the dif-
ferent Christmas traditions.
The rollcall was "I can remember when
Christmas. meant ". This proved most in-
teresting. A Chinese auction was held with
Elizabeth Robinson being the auctioneer.
She read a humourous poem about auc-
tions. The gifts go to the home for battered
wives in Kincardine and the proceeds go to
Meals on Wheels.
The Queen was sung to close a most en-
joyable afternoon.
