Lueknow Lancers manage
tie with Teeswater Falcons
The Lucknow Lancers were only able to
manage a tie on the weekend as the
Teeswater Falcons just wouldn't gave up.
Lancers 8 Teeswater 8
Teeswater held a 3-2 lead after one
period with Brad Humphrey and Kevin
Clark scoring for the locals. In the second
period, the Lancers tied it up on a goal by
Steve MacPherson but Teeswater pulled
ahead again mid -way through the period.
Pat Murray put the Lancers even once
again and Kevin Clark got his second of the
night to put the Lancers in front. The lead
was short as Teeswater came right back to
tie the score once more. Steve Simpson'put
the Lancers ahead one more, but
Teeswater tied the score to end the second
period in a 6-6 draw.
More of the same in the final period as
the visitors tied the score everytime the
Lancers pulled ahead. The final score was
8-8 with Jim Murray and ;: rad Humphrey
getting goals in the third period.
The winning time of 57 seconds was held
by Pat Murray and last week's winners
were Dan Gilchrist and Doug Eadie.
Mystery Man
This week's mystery man plays left
wing, throws his weight around and passes
like his brother-in-law.. If you guessed
Kevin Clark, give yourself a pat on the
back. Kevin has played with the :Lancers
for several years now but has not quite
qualified for the oldtime club yet. Kevin
handles the puck well and controls the cor-
ners when he's on the ice. He can also put
the puck in the net when needed.
The Lancers travel to Durham next Fri-
day night and host Lions Head next
Sunday.
Pee Wee's win first over Wingharn
The Lucknow Pee -Wee B's travelled to
Ripley hoping to break their winless streak
on December 4.
However, it was not to be as Ripley came
up with ,a big effort to beat Lucknow 13-5:
Lucknow 13 Lucknow 5
The first period showed promise as the
boys skated well and held onto a tie to end
the first period.
Ripley's Mike Arenburgh's three goals
in the second period , put his squad ahead
by three with the second period ending
with Ripley leading 6-3.
Lucknow struggled in the third period
and Ripley took advantage, ending the
game with an eight goal Margin of victory.
Scoring for Lucknow were Paul Kikkert
from Tom Hogan', Chris Humphrey from
Steven Rintoul; Lyndon Johnston from
Steven Rintoul; Mark Bakker from Ray
Dalton , and Stan .Kikkert' from Mark
Bakker. •
' " Wallace 6 Lucknow 0 •
Wallace' Came . to Lucknow for a re
match and • found a better ..organized
Lucknow than when theya played
previously.
Soxne boys found themselves in different
positions. They played more aggressively
and cleared the puck out Of the end well.
The score of 6-0 for Wallace didn't reflect
the improved effort from the Lucknow
team. Goalie Allan Kikkert was in top
form and was kept really busy.
Lucknow 2 Wingham 1
Lucknow travelled to Wingham for an
exhibition re -match with Wingham's
Great China House Pee Wee's..
Lucknow came out hustling and pressed
into Wingham territory several times. The
first period ended in a scoreless tie. •
Stanley Kikkert scored Lucknow's first
goal of the game with 8:10 remaining in the
second period.. The goal. was unassisted.
This was the only scoring of the period
which left Lucknow with a 1-0 lead. It was
a see -saw battle for the duration of the
. period. Lucknow goalie Allan Kikkert
made several good saves. He stopped all
but one shot.
.Lucknow •came back in the third period
to score. The goal came from Matthew.
Sproul and assisted Stan Kikkert. The
game ended with a 2-1 win for Lucknow.
A good effort was put forth by the entire
team.
