Lucknow Central Public School was a very busy week for both students and teachers. The teachers had lots of homework, try- ing to :finish the student'sreport, cards by Wednesday. Letters to Santa The Kindergartens were busy this week writing letters to Santa. They have also been • working hard on their Christmas Assembly on December 16. Indian Festival This week in Grade 4, they had an Indian Festival. They dressed up and presented in front of the class some of the songs, songs, cwt®as; and beliefs that they hive ieum- ed. To finish their wonderful morning, they had an Ojibwa meal consisting of c trn, corn rice, corn bread and maple 'syrup. The class would like to give special thanks to Mrs. Broad, Mrs. Austin and Mrs. Colwell for helping to make their In- dian Festival a big success. Newspaper study Grade 5 has started a newspaper study. Currently, they are identifying the dif- ferent parts of a paper. Exzamples include the masthead, lead and byline to name a few. Apple Carvings The Grade 6 class has been busy carving apples on October 31. To tell about their apples, they wrote some poems. Here area few examples: George By Tammy Neable George is my apple who I created Oc- tober 31, 1986. He's 20 days old. He has a stem, big lips, ears that pop out, and he has a really big nose. He is brown. He has black on his bottom. He can't stand up very well. Geroge isn't very big: He's rough and hard. At school, we had a race and George came in second place. George likes music, dancing and he has a lot of friends. Frank By Jennifer Cranston Life began as an apple. I was carved into a face. Jennifer named me Frank. "I don't know why I named him Frank, but he looked like a Frank." Well, I went in a race and placed fourth. I'm 3'/2 cm tall. I sat in.a room to dry for 20 days.
