Gratie 3 make apple doli faces

In Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 class, Mrs.
Linda Andrew donated apples and, with
the help of Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Robin-
son, taught some' Grade 3 Room 10
students how to make doll faces.
Thur especially laked eating the peel-
ings. Now they have to be patient and wait
about three weeks for the doll faces to dry
to see how they turn out.

Webster, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. MacKenzie
and Mrs. L,ogtenburg for coming in for pay
day on November 25,
The class has also finished its totempole.
It's almost to the . top of the classroom.
There are many scary looking faces on the
totem pole.
This week, the clas si shaving a potlatch.
They were told to make a present for a
friend. they will wear Indian clothing to
the event.

Bookworm growing
Mrs. Clarke's Room 4, Krakatoa, is in-
troducing Chris Curran this week. They
are happy to welcome Carrie Meriam to
their class. The bookworrh has grown to
105 circles!

Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 class had a
visitor on November 21, Mr. Warren
Robinson. He talked to the class about the
rudimentary principles of movement and
voice as they relate to drama.

Sports report
rookside has finally completed the
volleyball house league play. In the
playoffs, Team 5, Billy's Bumpers, beat
Team 1, Derek's Destroyers, and Team 2,
Andrew Glenn's team, beat Team 3, the
Rowdy Rau's.
In the final game, Team 2 beat Team 5 in
a close game 45-36. Congratulations to all
the players.
Shop talk
Mr. Hazlitt's Grade 8 have been going to
Victoria Public School in Goderich for
Shop class and Horne Economics every
Tuesday. Mr. Reid and Mrs. Bruinsma are
teaching a variety of projects including
making bread ' dough ornaments, key
chains, name boards and metal pot
hangers.
WI holds education meeting
The , Kinloss-Kairshea WI met at the
hoem of Mrs. Donald Maclntyre for their
education meeting on the afternoorr of
November 20.
The president, Mrs. Robert . Gilchrist
welcomed ' the members and guest. ' Mrs.
Gilchrist read a poem and Mrs. Cordon
Wall read the scripture.
The • minutes were read, . and. ' the
treasurer's report was given. Mrs.
Gilchrist thanked thanked the ladies
.responsible for the "At Home" evening for
their work. It was decided that a donation
would be made to the Wingham and Area
Centre for the Homebound. Members were
asked to write to the Minister of Education
concerning the lack of formal grammar
being taught in today's schools. It was
decided that the Anglican Palish Hall
would again be perfect for the Christmas
meeting and party:
Mrs. Gordon Wall read an interesting
and amusing, article written by Miss Linda
MacQuillan, a handicapped person Who is
the assistant editor of the March of Dimes
magazine. Mrs. Wall then introduced the
guest speaker, Miss Connie Jamieson.
Miss Jamieson spoke of, the many rewar-

Centre in Wmgham._ She stressed that the
handicapped want to be' recognized as a
person -first and that everyone mustbe
given a chance to develop their full poten-
tial. Miss Jamieson described the many
worthwhile programs available for the
handicapped of all ages in our area,
Mrs. Ira Dickie thanked the speaker.
The rollcall, "name something we can
learn from a handicapped person", was
answered by la members.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall gave .a contest
on listing varieties of apples and snow
words.
Interesting standing committee reports
were given. Mrs. Donald Matthews read
an article on a new tanning process for fish
skins and the clothing made from them.
Can you imagine Tuna shoes, Cod capes
and Grouper gloves? Mary Lavis read an
article onthe ridiculous fads in women's
clothing which gave everyone a chuckle.'
Mrs. Gilchrist gave the courtesies.
Lunch was served by the directors, Mrs.
Harold Campbell and Mrs. Leonard
Clarke.
