Ladies of the community gathered at the
Kinlough Pentecostal Church basement on
Friday evening for a `bridal shower for Miss
Connie Stanley.
Yellow and white streamers and wedding
bells made a colourful setting. Mrs. Allan
McArthur asked each one to introduce
themselves and Mrs. Christensen opened
the evening with a prayer. Mrs. McArthur
conducted a few games
Connie and her sister. Cathy Stanley and
the groom's sister Jeanette Howald and the
bride's sister Cindy Stanley read the verses
on the shower gifts as the younger girls
brought them from the bridal table.
There were many lovely, and useful gifts
'for which Connie expressed her thanks.
Punch, iflee and light refreshments were
enjoyed as well as a time of fellowship.

Byron on Friday, September 12.

McDonald were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence

Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald and Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Thompson spent the past weekend
at Niagara Falls. ,
Mrs. Allan Pope of Sudbury visited during
the week with Mrs. Frauih Maulden and
Keith.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bennett and his
mother Mrs. Marjorie tennott spent the
weekend here with Mr. Arthur Haldenby.
They took Arthur back to Toronto for a
week's holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell spent Dist
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Nielson
and family at Peterborough.
Mr. and Mrs. Mac McDonald and Mr. and
Mrs. Tom McDonald visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Thompson.
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Page visited Saturday
in Toronto with Dr. and Mrs. Iman Mokam-
ed and the boys.
ACW meeting
The Kinflough Anglican Church women
met on Thursday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Delbert Hedley with a good
attendance. -
Mrs. Hedley presided and the meeting
opened with the hymn, followed by the
members prayer, and the Lord's prayer.
The scripture reading . from St. Matthew,
chapter 13, was read by Mrs. Agnes
Hodgins.
The theme of the meeting was harvest and
the roll call was a Bible verse containing the
word "Harvest". Mrs. Ronald Thacker read
the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs.
Eric Thacker reported on a bale for Limbe
in North Haiti.
It was announced that the South Saugeen
deanery meeting will be held in Walkerton
on Tuesday, October- 7. A thank you letter,
Pickering lady visits Dalton family
Margeurite. O'Connor of Pickering visit-
ed last week with the Dalton families and
many of her friends in the area.
Pat O'Neill found a balloon on his lawn
aid it was stamped Chicago, Illinois.
The community wishes Robert Simpson
a speedy recovery as he is a patient in
Wingham hospital.
Kevin Cook and his friend Bill Elliott
have gone fishing for a few days.
Father Ralph O'Laughlin of Houston,
Texas, has been visiting with his sister
Bernardine Kinney.
The community would like to welcome
Peter and Louise Martin and family to the
area as they have bought the Clare Smith
house and have moved from Glammis.
John S. Dalton celebrated his eighth
birthday on September 10. Little friends
that attended were Doug Barger, Ed
Courtney and Glenn Ferguson.
Congratulations to Ed and Leanne
Courtney of Penticton, B.C. on the birth of
their son, Michael. Edward, born Septem-
ber 13. This .is the 20th grandchild for
Marcella Courtney of Goderich.
Jan and Gary Kaye of Milfor& Bay
visited with Jan's parents, Bob and Jean
Simpson on the weekend.
The community would like to express
sympathy to the Vassella family on the loss
of their father, Fred Vassella.

ing. Miss May Boyle gave the meditation
which was a missionary story from the Liv-
ing Message. Miss Edna Boyle read a poem
and Mrs. Agnes Hodgins, Mrs. Roy Collins

Following the closing hymn, Mrs. Eric
Thacker gave the courtesy remarks and a
lovely lunch was served by the hostess.

Andy Page attended the Nicholson family
dinner on Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Smith at Seaforth. There were 37
present.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited at
Pinkerton with Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Lemont.
Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom

Dungannonman dies
William Roger Alexander Pentland
William Roger Alexander Pentland, of
RR 6 Goderich died at the Wingham and
District Hospital on Septeinber 18, 1986 at
age 40.
A farmer, Mr. Pentland was born on July
14, 1946 in Clinton. He was the son of
Frank Pentland of RR 6 Goderich and the
late Myrtle Sillib. He was a member of the
Dungannon United Church, Morning Star
Lodge, A.F. and A.M., Carlow.
Mr. Pentland is survived by Mrs. Eliza-
beth(KenBrooks)Pearce of London; Mrs.
Patricia (George) Gibson of Lucknow; Mrs.
Donna (Michael) Carney of Meaford and
special friend Jean Mountain of Stratford.
The funeral service was held on Sept-
ember 20 at the MacKenzie and McCreath.

Robert Roberts of the Dungannon United
Church officiating.
Flowerbearers were Michelle Pearce,
Jan Gibson, Meagan Carney, and Tammy
Mountain. Honorary pallbearers were
Richard Pearce, Jeff Gibson and Dean
Carney. The active pallbearers were Pete
Bonia, Bill Hall, Terry Hodges, David
Bere, Eric McNee and Gord Riley.
Interment at the Dungannon Cemetery.
Gladys Mason
Mrs. Gladys Mason, of Maitland Manor
in Goderich and formerly of Ripley, died in
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in
Goderich on September 14, 1986. She was
83.
Born in Kinloss Township on January 20,
1903, she was the daughter of the late John
Colwell and the late Belle Moore. She
married the late Ardill Mason of Ripley.
She was a member of St. Andrew's United
Church in Ripley.
She is survived by her two children, Reta
(Mrs. Roy Webster) of London and Jack
Mason and his wife Joyce of British
Columbia. She is also survived by one
brother, Currie Colwell of Kinloss Town-
ship; two sisters Annie (Mrs. Don McCosh
and Isabel (Mrs. Walter Forster), both of
Ripley; nine grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren. .
Besides her husband, she was prede-
ceased by one brother George Colwell and
one sister Nettie Hedley.
.The funeral service was conducted at the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home
Chapel in Ripley with Rev. Glen McPher-
_ son of the Ripley United Church officiating.
The flower bearers were Todd Walden,
Clayton Farrell, Don Mason and Cliff
Webster. The pallbearers were "Bill Robin-
son, Hugh Mason, Lynn Farrell, Dick
McCosh, Gordon Patterson and Donald
Forster.
Interment at the Ripley Cemetery.
