Service was held at Trinity United Church,
Ashfield with Rev. Warren McDougall as
guest speaker.

Lisa of " Londesboro sang two duet

History of Trusty
Frank Alton commented on the history
of Trinity Church and stated that the first
church service was held in a log school
house on the same site as Trinity church in
1853 some 133 years ago. A church was
built at Zion in 1856 and in 1867 Zion and
Hacketts became a circuit.
In 1869 the first church was built at
Hacketts replacing the log school house,
thus making 117 years of continuous ser-
vice in a church.
In 1878 the church was enlarged and the
same year a church was built at Blakes
making a three-point charge. In 1901 the
first church was replaced by the brick
structure that is still used. The present
church is now 85 years old.
In 1925 church union took place and
Hacketts Methodist Church became
Hacketts United Church.
Name changed
in 1969
In 1969 Hacketts church celebrated its
100th anniversary. The same year Zion
and Blakes closed and joined Hacketts.
The name was then changed from
Hacketts to Trinity United Church. Trinity
has been in existence now for 17 years.

Heritage. He mentioned as a youth he was
brought up to attend church regularly but
often as young people we do not realize or
appreciate the importance or security of
church worship in our lives. He mentioned
our forefathers have left us a great
heritage and it is important for us to carry
on this heritage.
The choir sang the anthem "God of
Great and God of Small" conducted by
Mrs. Ruth Alton.
Rev. Bob Roberts mentioned that Rev.
McDougall would be going to Mississauga
in July and we wish him well.
