(Alan Rivett photo) Successful Cancer canvass. To the Editor: More than 170 cancer researchers across Ontario were awarded $13.1 million this year by the National Cancer Institute of Canada, the research affiliate of the Canadian Cancer Society. The $13.1 million is part of the more than $25 million distributed nationally by the Institute to support 250 research projects across the country. The funds are raised primarily during the annual April camp- aign of the Canadian Cancer Society. Research is only one of the many different areas that are covered by the funds raised each year in the campaign. Locally, thanks to , the many- willing volunteers who gave of their time and ability we surpassed the $5,000 mark for the first time ending up with a total of $5,084.75, up over $700 from last year. Special thanks are extended to the ladies of the Women's Institute that cover the rural areas and are included in our' local canvass. Anna Kreutzweiser Mildred Loree Campaign Organizers County wants plowing match ... •from page 3 consented to be the host for the match in 1990. In its bid for the match, the local committee will be making a 20 -minute presentation at the annual meeting which will include an eight to 10 -minute video presentation. It would also like some representatives from countil to attend. "We need all the support we can get." Cumming said hosting the match would mean "a concentrated effort of everybody in the county of Bruce." Bruce is one of five counties looking to host the match. "We see ourselves as having a really good chance in 1990. They're looking more for an agricultural oriented visitor and that suits this area." Cumming told council that Bruce County is a good candidate for this type of event because it's the rural populace they draw on. Therefore locating near a city wouldn't necessarily mean the same crowds as we'd get here." Police report two break-ins Two break-ins were reported at W.G. Thompson Feed Mill in Port Albert and Treleavans' Feed Mill in Lucknow, accor- ding to the Kincardine detachment of the OPP. Police said the break-ins, which occur- red late last Thursday or early Friday, resulted in a small amount of money being stolen from both locations. The OPP have no suspects on either break-in at this time. Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 4, 1986 --Page 5 uceum tieafre 1. ADULT ACCAIi1PANIMENT .aeR:Ja. acne.
