becoming big sellers
Satellite dishes are becoming big sellers
simply because they're becoming more af-
fordable. "They're starting to get into the
price range of the average income family,"
says Mike Eby, manager of Grant's TV and
Appliances in Hanover.
He says they range anywhere from $1,000
and up and a. cutornier can buy a very ade-
quate system in the$1,500 price range.
Dave Rudolph owns the two Grant's TV
and Appliar#ces in Walkerton and Hanover
which employ six people, Both stores carry
all major appliances and televisions as well
as sell. andrent video cameras and equip-
rnent.
"Most -People are getting or already have
VCRs, so the cameras just go hand in
hand;." says Eby. "If peoile don't want to
buy a camera, they can rent one, which is
something mere people should know about."
'More 'people are, wanting to tape special
events such as weddings, but it's also handy
to be able to rent a video camera just; to get
-some family shets-on a Saturday;afternoon..
Grant's TV and Appliances also rent out ,
Bata movies: Eby says they have about 450
movies in stock and that number is con-
tinually growing.
The two stores carry all ajor ap,
pliances, specializingin. microwaves. ,Eby
says the mid-siz e, one cubic foot: microwave
has really taken off as the best seller..
"You couldn't sellthem three year°s-ago,"
he says. At that dine they were selling well
in the US, but they didn't catch where until
recently. -
A lot of people just diidn't have rooms for-
the
orthe bigger models and the -r°eally.imall,ones
turned people off. The midsize ;microwave
is affordable and takes up less -space,. so has
become the most popular.
Though nothing is definite yet! Eby says
there are plans to renovate the Hanover
store to supply , more .floorspace in the.
store's display areaand make 'deliveries at
the back of the store more conventeitt. .
