sunny dayforACWmeeting
Mrs. Delbert Hedley was hostess at her
home on Thursday for the meeting of the
Anglican Church Women, as the January
meeting was stormed out it was so nice to
have a lovely sunny day for the ladies to
meet.
Ten members and one visitor answered
the rollcall with the world Love in a
Scripture verse.
Joyce presided and welcomed everyone
and hymn Softly and tenderly Jesus is
calling was sung, as the previous day was
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the
Lenten season. That is when Christians
examine themselves and report and ask
God's guidance and love in preparation for
Easter. May Boyle read the Ash Wednes-
day scripture lesson and gave the prayer.
The Members' Prayer, The Prayer Part-
ners' Prayer and The Lord's Prayer were
all repeated in unison.
Mrs. Ronald Thacker read the minutes
and communications. A letter and donation
from a former member, was received, as
was a thank you letter from St. Monica
House for a donation sent for Christmas. A
letter of appreciation came from the
Keewatin Dioceses where seven bales of
clothing and useful articles were sent in
October to Pikwitonei.
Rev. Merelyn Letson thanked all who
had so kindly remembered her at Christ-
mas and she was the convener for the
meeting. She gave a most interesting talk.
Christian life is a way of life for every
day. Lent gives us a special time for our
daily reading and studying our Bible and
our more sincere prayer time. We will have
difficulties and temptations, so did our
Lor1,.,, ut God's Grace is sufficient.
She read 761t -Lf? lm 27 and also from St.
Luke, portions that rer ed her strength.
She told of a person she knew -who was so
lonely, he lacked hope.
She asked all to try and be present at the
Lenten Quiet Day at Lucknow Anglican
Church Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
March 18. She also spoke of the Bruce
County Crisis Centre which at present is
filled. She was so grateful to the ladies for
their generous response in food, money
and household articles. In the spring
hopefully some can go to the Centre to call
on residents there.
The president expressed thanks for the
gift of the new door handles and plate for
the church doors. Kay gave copies of the
year's financial statement to all present,
which were most gratifying. Mrs. Roy
Collins invited the ladies to her home on

March 19 at noon for the annual family
meal.
The hymn Jesus loves me was sung
especially for the children who were
present and refreshments were served by
the hostess and her daughter Bev Visser.
All had enjoyed a fine time of fellowship
together.
Mrs. R. Collings gave the courtesies.
Service folders were handed out. This year
the World Day of Prayer will be in the
Kinlough Anglican Church. Mrs. Delbert
Hedley is key woman and the speaker is
Rev. Merelyn Letson. Ladies from the
Presbyterian WMS and the ACW will take
part with women all over the world in this
special prayer day service.
People report
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins returned home
after a visit in Toronto with Mrs. Lenore
Sutherland.
Get well wishes are extended to Heather.
MacDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken
MacDonald, who had tonsil surgery at the
Children's MernO ial Hospital in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon MacDonald of
Orangeville spent the weekend with his
parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald.
On Sunday evening the Presbyterian
musical group put on a lovely program of
vocal solos, violin and choir members,
accordian numbers, and piano, organ and
mouth organ selections. Rev. R. Shaw was
chairman. A time of fellowship and delic-
ious lunch was served in the Sunday School
room.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald and their
daughter Esther Bushell were dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mac MacDonald
and Jeffrey at Kincardine as it was Torn
and Esther's birthdays.
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bushell of Wing -
ham visited on Sunday with Mrs. John
Barr.
Visitors during the week with Mr. and
Mrs. Edbert Bushell were Mrs. Don
Forster, Donna, Jean and Douglas of
Purple Grove, and on Sunday afternoon
Mrs. Ron Stanley of Kinloss visited at the
sank home.
Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen went to
London last week where they visited with
relatives. Thcy then drove his mother to
her home in Montreal, after she spent the
past two months here and in London with
members of her family.
Residents bring Sarnia visitor
Last Monday Mrs. Alan Falconer and
Mrs. Angus Falconer were at Sarnia where
they got Mrs. Mary Lou Glover and
brought her home with them. She visited
till Thursday with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Milligan.
Donald Irwin spent the weekend doing
chores for Mr. Donald Bell of the second
concession of Kinloss, who was away.
Mrs. Gertrude Tiffin of Wingham visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Miss Karen Beecroft of Kitchener spent
the weekend with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Beecroft.
Ken Sinnamon of Wingham visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson,
Ryan, Erin and Craig of Egmondville, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim de Boer, Matthew, Michael
and Alicia, and Dale Jamieson visited Mr.
and Mrs. John de Boer to celebrate John's
birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wight and Tracey
visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Barry
Elliott and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott arrived
home Sunday evening from a tour of
Venezuela where the temperature was 85
% hen they left. The scenery was most
beautiful and there was a lot of privacy.
Elroy Laidlaw of West Wawanosh spent

Monday to Thursday in Wingham hospital
where he had surgery.
On Monday and Tuesday Elroy Laidlaw
was visited in hospital by daughters Mrs,
Tom Vannus, London and Mrs. Ducharme,
Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ducharme of Goderich
were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Laidlaw.
The WMS of Chalmers Church will meet
this Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Alan
Falconer.
Mrs. Norma Rintoul recently spent a
week with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer,
Jeffery and Julia of Waterloo and with Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Gutoske, Michael and
Michelle 'of Kitchener.
Recently Mr. and Mrs. Dave McGlynn of
Waterloo were on a tour to the Caribbean
and from Peurto Rico called their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tiffin. Mrs. Tiffin went
to Waterloo and took care of the family in
their absence.
Attending the Ice Capades at Kitchener
last week were Mrs. George Webster, Mrs.
Carrie Rutledge and Courtney and Mrs.
Roy Robinson and Tracey.
