Teeswater bests Bantams
The Bantams opened their second round
of the OMHA playoffs in Teeswater,
Monday evening.
Lucknow opened the scoring on an unas-
sisted goal by Harvey Kikkert, however
Teeswater tied it up less than a minute
later.
Lucknow went ahead on a goal by Wayne
Nivens from Kikkert and Sam Murray.
Teeswater then proceeded to put eleven
consecutive goals in the net. Lucknow
scored again, with 13 second left on a pass
from Kikkert to Kirk Livingston.
Although the score was considerably
lopsided, it was not indicative of the true
game. Time and time again Lucknow
applied pressure in the Teeswater end, but
appeared to be unable to even buy a goal.
Teeswater 8, Lucknow 5
In the last game of their series with
Teeswater, the Lucknow Bantams put forth
an excellent effort to try and defeat the
team that has been a thorn in their side
since they started playing hockey, however
Teeswater came out on top again with a
score of 8 - 5.
For fans watching this game, it was one
of the most exciting the team has played
this year and showed that there is
considerable talent within the ranks.
Lucknow opened the scoring" on an
unassisted goal by Wayne Nivens. Tees -
water proceeded to tie the game and go
ahead by one. A goal by Kirk Livingston
from Sam Murray tied the game, to end the

Lucknow goalie was pulled in an effort to
try and come within reach of a win. With 15

Teeswater Peewees win
Teeswater 11, Lucknow 0
The Lucknow Peewees started their play-
offs on Feb. 10 against Teeswater, who
proved why they were last year's Ontario
Champs defeating Lucknow 11 - 0.
Lucknow put up a good effort but time and
time again Ken MacDonald and Jason
Kraemer bulled and finessed their way
through the Lucknow team with Kraemer
getting five goals and MacDonald getting
four. These are very talented players and
the key to Teeswater's success.
Rod Crich was lost to the Lucknow team
when early in the game he was hit from
behind into the boards and broke a bone in
his hand. The second game of the playoffs
was scheduled for Feb. 17 in Lucknow.
On Feb. 16 Lucknow played an exhibi-
tion game against Kalamazoo, Michigan in
Lucknow. Kalamazoo, the day before had
defeated Port Elgin 6 - 1 and Ripley 7 - 0
and on Sunday they continued their
winning ways defeating Lucknow 7 - 2. The
game stayed close thru the midway of the
game when the hard skating team from
Michigan took over and scored the last five
goals of the game. Lucknow's goals were
scored by Brad Murray, with Donnie
Gammie assisting on one and Art Galloway
assisting on the other.
Kalamazoo took advantage of Lucknow's
mistakes and frustration caused the home
town boys to get many foolish penalties,
thus creating more opportunities for the
visitors. It was certainly an action filled
game and a good effort from both teams.
Mildmay hands novices a loss
Mildmay 8, Lucknow 1
Lucknow Novice travelled to Mildmay on
the evening of Feb. 10. The first period was
scoreless with both teams having many
chances to score.
In the second period Mildmay put in four
goals. In the third period Mildmay scored
again, then Lucknow's Shawn Bellmore
scored Lucknow's only goal. Mildmay
scored three more goals and the game
ended 8 - 1 in favour of Mildmay.
Lucknow 6, Belgrave 6
On Saturday evening the Lucknow
Novice boys played an exhibition game
against Belgrave.
In the first period Belgrave scored the
first goal then Lucknow scored four with
Sean Wolfe scoring two, Eric Andrew one,
and Trevor VanderBurgh one.
In the second period Belgrave scored two
goals.
In the third period Belgrave scored three
more times and Eric Andrew and Ryan
Slotegraaf each scored one for Lucknow,
ending this exciting game 6 - 6.
Peewee Bs win close match
Lucknow 2, Ripley 1
Lucknow hosted Ripley for another
rematch. Lucknow's Stanley Kikkert open-
ed up the scoring late in first period. He
was assisted by Butch Foran and Steven
Rintoul. Ripley's squad tested Lucknow
goalie Allan Kikkert but failed and at the
end of the first period score was Lucknow 1
- Ripley 0.
Ripley's Art Houghton scored from Sam
Snobelen and Darren Moore for a tied
game at the end of the second period.
Lucknow's defence played well and kept
the puck up to their forwards, then
Lucknow's Paul Sande Scored a good goal
fr`oin Russell Sutton and Marvin Kikkert. A
well played game by both teams!
Referee Guay kept a close eye on the
play and several penalties were handed
out. This made the boys aware that clean
play is the name of the game.
