The Anglican Church Women
held their Christmas meeting on
Tuesday at the home of Edna and
May Boyle. The president Maureen
Collins opened with a reading
"We've come a long way since that
Christmas Day."
The opening carol was Joy to the
World followed by prayer. The
scripture reading was from St. Luke
chapter 2. Rollcall was a favorite
carol and as each person named
one, all. joined in singing it, which
made a nice time of carol singing.
Another bed kit for the sleeping
children around the world will be
sent and a donation to St. Monica
House, Waterloo. A get well card
was signed and a gift of ap-
preciation was also. given.
Agnes, Hodgins was the program
convener and Mary Haldenby gave
a reading "The Joyous Giving" and
Lynda Thacker gave "Christmas
Memories" and "Dear Lord Help
Me". May Boyle's. pocrn was
"Jesus, the Loveliest Gift."
Agnes Hodgins' reading. was the
miracle of the first Christmas.
Maureen Collins read "If There Had
Never Been a Christmas".
Each member told of their
memory of. a Christmas custom and
all worked on a contest of
Christmas carols and songs.
Alphred Ncable favored with two
solos ° in her native language. Mary
Haldenby gave the courtesies, and
Kay Thacker expressed her thanks
'for sympathy cards which she had
received.
There was..a gift exchange and all
enjoyed Kay .Thacker's birthday
cake after the singing of Happy
i B irthday.
Mr. and Mrs.,Ivan Lloyd of Lon-
don visited ons Monday evening
with Edna and May Boyle.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter van Dam
spent Sunday at Brussels
celebrating Christmas with all of
the van Dams. •
Bessie Maulden of here and Meg
Lane of Lucknow spent Thursday at
Goderich.
We wish to express our thanks to
the Ripley and District Lions Club
for the .lovely Christmas cake that
'they bring to the Kinlough Senior
Citizens each' year.

The Christmas meeting of the
Kinlough Presbyterian WMS took
on a, different format Than usual.

The hostess Marilyn Reid served
dessert and tea first, then Isobel
Thompson began the meeting with
a reading and prayer. The purpose
was repeated in unison. •
A motion by Marilyn Reid that a
donation be given to the Salvation
Army and to the Christian's
Children fund and the Blind Mis-
sion was passed.
Myrtle Percy had the devotions
and was assisted by Marilyn Reid,
Joan Barr and Lorraine MacPher-
son. The Christmas Story. from St.
Matthew and St. Luke and a follow
up article.. and the Lord's Prayer
closed this part of the meeting.
Eleven member's and .three
visitors were present. The rollcall
was a program number which con
sisted of readings, poems and
contest, along with a carol sing. A
gift exchange made it quite a fes-
tive tea, along with Christmas
goodies. at
Following the Anglican Church
service on Sunday there was a carol
sing. Lucas and Alicia Thacker
played carols on their band
instruments and the Sunday School
and choir sang Away in a Manger.
After the program, a noon day
dinncr was served.
Kay Thacker was remembered
with a gift of appreciation for all
the extra things she did during the
year.
Reuben Burnett brought his an-
nual treat to the Sunday School.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haldenby held
Christmas on Saturday with all their
family home, as well as Calen and
Denise Sunkley and girls, and Colin
Hurshman ad Myrtle Percy.
David Gowan, son of Anna and
Robert Gowan was baptized on
Sunday at the Presbyterian Church.
Ruby Schultz and girls led in the
Advent Readings.
Don't forget the Christmas Eve
service on Saturday evening .at the
Presbyterian Church.
The Kinlough and District Bible
Society is glad to report that the
canvass for this area was $1091.

winners .at card party
The Whitechurch village card
party was held on Dec. 12 at the
home of Angus and Vera Falconer.
High players were Mildred
McClenaghan and Brian Rintoul,
with Margaret Sleightholm and
Terry Wilson in second high spots.
The Whitechurch Women's
Institute enjoyed Christmas dinner
at the Riverboat Restaurant in
Wingham on Dec. 14.
Following dinner, the group
adjourned to•'the home of Marjorie
Wall for the meeting. The
Christmas program included
readings .by several and a time of
carol singing. Secret sisters were
• revealed and gifts exchanged.

Whitechurch UCW
Janet Cook hosted the Dec. 7
meeting of the Whitechurch UCW
and served dessert prior to the
meeting.
The topic was `church in society'
with Alice Moore and Mildred
McClenaghan as leaders. The ladtks
acted out a skit, had readings and
hymns were sung throughout.
