Twinky's back!
Students at Lucknow 'Central
Public School welcomed their
globe-trotting buddy, Twinky, back
last week. -
Twinky is the STAR power mas-
cot at LCPS,'. STAR power is a
conflict resolution program Stop,
Think, Act, Review. He was chosen
to represent the school on a trip
around the world to promote peace
and Understanding among people.,
Shortly after the students were
dismissed for the summer break,
Twinky began an exciting tour of
' many countries in the world. His
itinerary was" arranged ; by Bob
Elder, customer service director
with Canadian Airlines.
Twinky, is very excited to beback
at LCPS and brought home a mul-
titude of souvenirs from the
countries he visited, along with a
journal packed full of letters ,from
people he met. .., .
At an assembly last week, Twinky
addressed the student body, saying:
" Hi, remember me? I spent quite a
bit of time in Ms.i Broad's office
last year learning about STAR
power. .In June, Mrs. MacInlyre
brought meto your awards as-
sembly, after which I sat in the hall
and watched as you all left school
'for your summer holidays.
"After a few weeks, I got very'
lonely, so I decided to pack my
bags and travel the world spreading
STAR power wherever 1 went.,
"I got a ride to Pearson Inter-
national Airport in Toronto, where
a nice man named Bob Elder from
Canadian Airlines introduced me to
# crew from Japan Air, and I was
on my way.
"I went to places like Japan,
Germany, China, Paris, Greece and
many more.
"Wherever I went, people were
very kind to -me. They brought me
clothes, filled my backpack with
souvenirs and even let me travel
first class or in the cockpit of the
airplane where I could watch the
captain fly the plane.
"I took a journal with me telling
people who I was, about all my
friends at LCPS and asking that
they make sure I returned home in
time for Christmas.
"Well; here I am!"
!When the students return from the
Christmas break, Twinky plans to
share his adventures and show off
his souvenirs.
