Lucknow youth sets
record at meet
The Winghant Optimist Track and
Field ('lub ended the year by
claiming two provincial records at
the International Youth track and
field meet in Toronto recently:
In a field of 650 athletes, the
Winghant club claimed a respec-
table filth place in overall team
standings, as well as picking up 15
medals - five gold, six silver and
four bronze, and five new club
records.
Lucknow's Nigel Black record
.. one of the provincial records in the
tyke boys 800 metres. He ran the
distance in 2:41.85 minutes and
finished strongly to claim the hest
time for the distance ior a first year
tyke in Ontario.
The otter Ontario record was set
by tyke girl Kristyn Gerth, who put
the 2 -kg shot 9.26 metres to shatter
the old stark by almost 1.5 metres.
Heather. Lougheed of Lucknow
recorded two personal bests - 60
metres, 11.28 seconds and 400
metres 1:34 minutes.
• Sandy Lougheed recorded four
personal bests - high jump, 5th,
1.23 metres; 400 metres, 6th,
1:22.3:3 minutes; long jump; 9th,
3.31 metres, and 60 metres, 9.94
seconds.
Pee Wee A's win
Teeswater tournament
Mitchell's goalie was tested early
when the Lucknow Pee Wee A's
met them in their first game df the
Teeswater tournament on. Saturday.
John Van Diepenbeek opened the
scoring and Lucknow just got better
ending the game 5 - 0. Other
scorers were Mark Stanley, Rob
McGee and two for Chris
Wainwright. Conor McDonagh and
Jeff Andrew had two assists, with
singles going to Wainwright, Den-
nis Andrew and Nick Mann.
Lucknow vs Plattsville
Lucknow pulled ahead in the first
period of this game with three
quick goals by Mark Stanley, Troy
McKenzie and Chris Wainwright,
ending •the period with Lucknow up
two,
Conor McDonagh increased• the
lead to 4 - 2, but that changed
quickly when Lucknow let up their
guard and Plattsville scored two
before the buzzer. The opposition
was on a roll and popped in another
in the third period to tie the score.

Tension increased until Wainwright
tucked in the game winner,
Brian Stanley, John Van Diepen-
beck and Denis Andrew all had an
assist, while Rob McGee took credit
for four setups.
Lucknow vs Teeswater
The local squad came up against
the host team Teeswater in the final
game. Their endurance paid off and
by the end of the game, Teeswater
was worn out. After a scoreless first
period, Rob McGee and Troy
McKenzie scored, followed by
Paddy Lyons.and Chris Wainwright.
Assists went to C. McDonagh, J.
Andrew and M. Stanley'.
Team work and good fore- and
back checking won the game 4 - 0
for the defending champions -
Lucknow.
A special mention should be
given to Adam Cameron, Luck-
now's gaol tender for all three
games. Justin Brown and Jordan
