1927 - 1994
Clayton Walter Nicholson, of
Ripley, died at the Kincardine and
District Hospital, on Dec. 4, 1994,
in his 68th year.
1 -le was a retired employee of
Huron -Kinloss Telephone System.
Mr. Nicholson went into the
business one day to purchase a
phone and came out with a job that
spanned 38 years; 31 of those as
manager and superintendent of the
facility.
Mr. ,Nicholson was born on
March 27, 1927, in Kinlough. He
was a son of the late Walter and
Edna (Haidenby) Nicholson.
A community -minded man, Mr.
Nicholson acted as convener for the
1962 construction of the Ripley
Curling Club. 1n 1968 he was
elected to the Ripley Village coun-
cil and from 1971-74 served as
reeve and sat on Bruce County
council.
He was a charter member of the
Ripley and District Lions Club, and
in 1990 was honored with the Mel-
vin Jones Fellowship award, the
highest honor bestowed in Lionism.
In retirement years, Mr. Nichol-
son and his wife Doris (Ma-
'cDonald, Swan) enjoyed their
winters in Clearwater .Beach,
Florida, until his battle with
AIzhcitncis.
Besides his wife, Mr. Nicholson
is survived by his children Judith
and her husband, Gerald Coiling, of
Ripley; Ron and his wife, Lynn
Nicholson, of Ripley; and Bonnie
and her husband, Eric Taylor of
Lucknow; three stepchildren: Coline
and her husband, Eugene Dunlop of
Belwood; Ken and his wife Marilyn
MacDonald, of Kincardine; and Rod
and his wife, Betty MacDonald, of
Kincardine; 16 grandchildren and
22 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by brothers
and sisters: Bert and Eva Nicholson
of Kincardine, Mac and Florence
Nicholson of Kincardine,' Norman
Nicholson, Marjorie Thompson of
Ripley, Kay Thacker of R.R. 4,
Kincardine, Helen and Ray Stanley
of R,R. 1, Kincardine and, a sister-
in-law Marjorie Nicholson.
Rev. V, Wilkie, of the Ripley
United Church, conducted the
funeral at the . MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley,
on Dec. 8. Organist was Charline
Farrell, and , soloist Marilyn
Johnston.
Flower bearers were Darlene
McIntosh, Paula and Whitney
Taylor, Christina Kalchos, Sandra
Newell, Brent, Jennifer and Rodger
Dunlop, Michelle MacDonald, and
Laurie Pukariski.
• Honorary pallbearers were
Graham Co*, Bob Fair; Ron
Johnston, Bert McLeod, (Bill
Kempton and Ray Fuller, absent).
Active pallbearers were Brian Lol-
ling, Paul Coiling, Michael Nichol-

Doris Yvonne Johnston
1927 - 1994
Doris Yvonne Johnston of Huron
Ridge, Kincardine, died at her
residence on Dec. 4, 1994 .in her
68th year.
Born in Lucknow, on Feb. 19,
1927, Mrs. Johnston was a daughter
of the late Ewart and Ida May
(Hackett) Taylor.
She is survived by her husband
Morgan Johnston of Kincardine,
and children Jackie and her husband
Harry Bruce of Kincardine, Steve
and his wife Ruth Johnston of
Kincardine, and Julia and her hus-
band Bill Brown of Kincardine; 10
grandchildren - Carla, Alana and
Charlet Bruce, Lesley, Andrew,
Evan and Saundra Johnston, and
Shea, Daina and Michcala Brown.
Mrs. Johnston is also survived by
a sister, Betty Ackert, of Kelowna,
B.C.
She was predeceased by her
parents and. a sister, Jean Walden.
The funeral was held on Dec. 6 at
the MacKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Home, Ripley, with Rev. C.
McClenaghan officiating.
Honorary pallbearer was Bob Cyr.
Active pallbearers were Graham
Ball, Bob Johnston, Jim Bradley,
Jim Farrell, Art Purney and Vernon
Hodgins.
Interment of ashes at Ripley
Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy,
donations wereto the Kincardine
United Church Sunday School.
Andrew Leonard Hamilton
1914 - 1994
A World War 11 veteran, Andrew
Leonard Hamilton, of Lucknow,
formerly of Huron Township, died
at the Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home, on Dec. 3, 1994, in his 81st
year. Mr. Hamilton served with the
Perth Regiment and was stationed
in Italy. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Hamilton was a member of
the Ripley United Church and the
Ripley Legion.
He was born on July 21', 1914 in
Huron Township.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by his
sisters: Marion Campbell of Luck -
now, Laura Alexander of Goderich,
and Emma Barrett of Toronto; and
several nieces and nephews. .
He was predeceased by his
parents Andrew (Cook) and Mary
E. (Donally) Hamilton; a brother
Wilmer Hamilton, and a sister Clara
McTavish.
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, Ripley was in charge of the
arrangements.
Cremation took • place with a
private family graveside service
conducted by Rev. V. Wilkie. Inter-
ment Ripley Cemetery.
