Novice A's
rally for tie
The Novice A's played their
toughest game to date when they
travelled to Drayton on Nov. 19,
coming from behind to claim a tic
at six all.
Lucknow was slow to get started.
The team was out played in the first
' period, but goalie Dustin Farrish
kept Drayton off the score board.
'Defensive lapses and bad luck
resulted in three quick goals by
Drayton early in the second. Bob
Raymond evened the game out with
two goals, with Nigel Black assis-
ting on one. Drayton's. offence paid
off as they tallied another goal.
As in past games, Lucknow
turned it•on in the third period. The
rookie • line got things going,
notching two goals in one shift to
tic the score at four: Points went to
Daniel Drennan, from Luke Dren-
nan and James Mann, and ,Mann •
from Blair Morrison.
Drayton's next go ahead goal was
matched by Raymond's shorthanded
marker fed to him by Tyler Hamil-
ton. •
With less than two minutes Left,
the host team took the lead when a
centering pass was knocked past
Adam Martin in the Lucknow net.
The visitors stormed back and with
• 34 seconds remaining, Mark Hack-
ett converted a centering pass from
Hamilton and Raymond, to end the
game in a •6 - 6 draw.

Vigil is a time to pray
'QT An,,end to violence
Voluntee,FS frim arca Churches will staff the second annual "Day to
Remember", on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 12 noon to 9. p.m., at the
Lucknow Presbyjeria9 Church.
The nine -hoar vigil is a tic to pray for an end to violence against
women. Dec/ l% -marks the fkfth anniversary of the murder of 14 young
women at a Canadian university. The Women's Inter -Church Council
of Canada rite§:, "The event shocked Canadians into facing the reality
of the man' forms which violence against women lakes in our society.
Not only at women victims of violence by strangers; many women,
children, alid tnen suffer from acts of abuse or violence within their own,
homes,;lthc work place or even the church."
Prayers and reading material about violence against women will be
available at the church.
In 1993; Statistics Canada published the findings of the largest
national survey every done on violence against women. The results
show that half the women in Canada over 16 years of age have
experienced sexual or physical attack. This includes only incidents
which meet Criminal Code definitions that can be acted upon by police.
Christians are beginning to stand up and say this is wrong. Let's start
by kneeling down and praying.
New trading group
hosts marketing day
The newly formed Menesetung
Trading Community will host its
first market day on Saturday, Dec.
3, from 10 to 4 at the St. Helens
Women's Institute Hall.
"The Menesetung local exchange
trading (LET) system is patterned
after the Saugeen system, which has
been operating for a year and a
hair," says Pat McKillop, local
representative. "The idea behind
LET systems is to encourage the
exchange of goods and services in
the local arca through a bartering
network. Members are supplied
with a regularly updated goods and
scrviccs list for buying and selling.
All transactions are rccorJ,;d at a
central location and member's ac-
counts credited or debited accor-
dingly," says McKillop.
Tony McQuail, 'of Lucknow and
Rob Straby, . of Wingham were
instrumental in starting the local
trading community group. A learn
is in place handling the accounting,
promoting and marketing this new
venture. Presently, membership
stands at 22 and it is anticipated
that the attractive aspects of this
system will encourage many more.
The market day in St. Helens is
an opportunity to find out more
about the types of goods and ser-
vices presently' available.
