November meeting of the St.
Helen's Women's Institute.
Following the usual opening,
rolls rll was answered , with nine
!allies exchanging potato recipes.
The agricultural banquet was
discussc;d sin4 items"dclegated.
Members are asked to bring get
well or sympathy cards with stamps
to the next meeting in December.
Caroline Menary collected parcels
of donations to be given to
friendship House in 3oderich.
A letter from Marion Zinn re-
quested pictures and information
about the St. Helen's library. Pic-
tures were passed arotind and the
group tried to put names on the
identified. -
Mrs. Moffat read "Age depends
on outlook," and Mrs. Menary read
`'Brave Young Soldiers."
Jokes were g1'.: . by pcp1e
whose names start with H, 1 or J.
A visit to the Fire Station was
postponed and in place, Mrs. Mof-
fat had a video on 'backyard birds.'
It was enjoyable listening to the
birds sing , and learn their likes and
dislikes,
A social time followed the close
of the meeting.

This week and next, Brookside
will be celebrating Canadian Book
Week. . Canadian organizers have
asked that in honor of the Year of
the Family, students share Canadian
books with family members or with
good friends. Students will have a
::_anadian Book Week certificate to
;ign after sharing books at home

Marretta Hodgins
1916 - 1994
Marretta Hodgins,. of Niagara
Falls, the last member of the Ed-
ward and Emma (Cook) Stanley
family, died at the Greater Niagara
General Hospital, on Nov. 8, 1994,
in her 79th year. She was a former
resident of Kinloss township and a
member of the Kinlough Pentecos-
tal Church for many years.
The former. Marretta Stanley was
born on May 29, 1916, in Greenock
Township, one of a family of 15.
Mrs. Hodgins is survived by two
Sons: Glen and his wife Rosalind of
St. Catherines, and Ken . and his
wife Doreen of Niagara Falls, She
was a special nanny to Beverly and
Eileen Gilman of Detroit.
She is also survived by .13
grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Hodgins was predeceased by
her husband Harvey;'seven brothers

MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, Lucknow, was in charge of
the arrangements. The funeral .was
conducted at the Kinlough Pen-
tecostal 'Church on Nov. 11, with
Pastors L. Thirsk and Woodburn
officiating. Organist was Laura
Dahmer and soloist was Keith
Hodgins. •
Flower bearers • were five
granddaughters: Pam Hodgins, Julie
Hodgins, Shelley Hodgins, Heidi
Hodgins and Karen Bolger.
