The Lucknow Sentinel, 1994-08-10, Page 5Curling tale comes to Blyth Every winter, the noble sport of curling turns otherwise sane Canadian men and women into broom waving fanatics. Given the chance, any one of them would actively consider selling their soul to the devil for a chance to win the national championship, 'the Brier'. That's the offer made to Wullie MacCrimmon, the good, Scottish shoe -maker, who lives to curl in 1930s Wildrose, Alberta. The Black Bonspiel of Wullie MacCrimmon runs in repertory until Sept. 3. Tickets are available at the box office 523-9300. Minor injuries in automobile accident The driver and five passengers were injured in a single -vehicle accident on Aug. 6 ,at 11 a.ni. Christian Taylor, 19, was driving on Concession 12 of Kinloss Township when his vehicle left the road and struck a Targe boulder, destroying the car. Christian, Ammanda, 9, Linda, 40, Anthony, 18, Quintessa, 12 and Lindsky 15, all of the Taylor • family, were taken by ambulance with minor injuries to Wingham and District Hospital. • The family is from RR 1, Holyrood. Quilt show at Museum The 10th annual quilt show is now on exhibit at the Huron County Museum until Sept. 18. Many unusual and artistic quilts as well as woven articles from members of the Huron Tract .Spin- ners and Weavers, and rug hooking items from the Saugeen Rughookers are on display. Some articles are for sale and will beiclearly marked. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30, Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. for quilt viewing and self -guided tours of the Museum. Admission to the museum is required to view the quilt show. Tom and Joan host Helm reunion Tom and Joan Helm hosted the Helm family reunion on July 24 with 38 attending. A fun program was held with the children participating . in sports events. A minute's silence was held for family members that had passed away during the past year: Wesley Ritchie, Lucknow; Vi Arnold, Lucknow; Vernon Hunter, Luck- now; Olive Campbell, Belgrave and Marilyn Galbrith, Whitby. August 10. 1991 - Preliminary drainage report complete WEST WAWANOS}i TOWNSHIP - The preliminary report on. the Dungannon drainage works has been prepared by en- gineer Tom Pridham. Copies of the report will be circulated to all owners or interested parties• for perusal, with a meeting set for Tuesday, Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m. to consider the report. During the Aug. 2 meeting, coun- cil amended a motion regarding the St. Helen's signs to include "and further that the Township of West' Wawanosh will not be responsible for future maintenance and upkeep of the signs". At the July 5 meeting council had authorized Kathy and Gary Leeman to contract Jack Millar to prepare four signs for the boundary limits of the village, with the wording left to their discretion. Council deferred awarding the contract for a tandem truck cab and chassis to Aug. 10. In •the mean- time, certain specifications on the tenders will be checked over and compared. Champion Road Machinery had the successful tender to supply a Frink model body, sander and snow plow equipment' for 544,678 (taxes included).
