Farewell I would like to take this oppor- tunity to express my appreciation to the students, parents, staff and community of Lucknow Central Public School for the tremendous support and cooperation which 1 have enjoyed over the past four years. I have had a very happy time learning and working with you at LCPS. Thank you for all of the unforgettable memories and ex- periences. Lucknow Central Public School is a special place which will always hold a treasured sport in my heart: Kathy Broad. Phantom of the Opera On June 8, a large group of Grade 7 and 8 students, along with a number of parents and their guests, travelled to Toronto to see a perfor- mance of the "Phantom of the Opera." A very enjoyable day was had by all as we viewed not only the performance itself, but also a special morning presentation which explained many of the different aspects of the show, such as the . acting, lighting, music and special effects. 'A special thank you must be given to all those chaperones who freely gave their support and help throughout the day! Alzheimers Walk On June 15 the Grade 7 class went on an Alzheimers Walk-a- thon. The students paired up with several residents of Pinecrest Nur- sing Home, and stopped at the Super Scoop for an ice-cream cone. Prior to the walk-a-thon the Grade 7 students raised $350.00. The proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Track and Field Restilts We had 13 students. tialfor ' qualify Y the County Track and Field Day on ' June 11. The club hosted another swapshop and sold environmentally friendly Christmas cards. ' They have initiated a. Learner's in Action Program which encourages the whole school to be involved in environmental awareness. On behalf of the school I would like to thank the 13 members for dedicating their time for such a worthy cause. We look forward to continuing - with this club again next year. (Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Lash, Mrs. Black.) Kindergarten and . Grade 1 Track and Field On June 10 the kindergarten classes and the Grade 1 classes enjoyed a mini Olympics with individual and team competitions. We had great racers, kickers, and balancers in our relays, "kick the shoes" and "carry the potato" races. But best of all, we were all good sports, cheering for our friends and enjoying the fun. A popsicle treat helped cool us off at the end.
