The Lucknow r:esbyterian
Women's Missionary Society held
their final meeting for the spring in
the form of a picnic at the church
on June 1. Norma Raynard read the
World Hunger Grace before
everyone enjoyed a pot luck picnic
lunch.
Mrs. Raynard opened the program
with a poem listing many of the
things that we receive that are free
followed by prayer. Rev. Peggy
Kinsman thanked everyone for
flowers, cards, and food received
during her recent recovery from
surgery.
udrrey MacDonald was in charge
of the devotions and was assisted
by Fem MacDonald, Maudie Fisher
and Shirley Hawthorne, reading the
scripture from II Kings. She read an
article from the Presbyterian
Record, Listening to God, speak
through the daily newspaper, by the
editor, John Congram.
The rollcall was answered by 20
ladies bringing back a lot of
memories of things that "my mother
did that I don't do," such as making
soap, churning butter, going to the
bush to pick wild raspberries, han-
ging clothes on the line in the mid-
dle of winter etc.
Donalda Moffat led in a sing song
and was assisted by some rhythm
bandvolunteers that added variety
to the program.
During the business part of the
meeting Mrs. Hawthorne announced
the Presbyterial bus trip , n•, Sept. 8
to Marylake Augustinian
Monastery, Luna at St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, King'City, and
a guided tour of the Sharon
Temple. Anyiahe interested,iu going
should contact Mildred Lore
before the'end of Ju1•y <-She also
listed some of the du[ies for the
Strawberry Social on June 15
Following the singing of When
the Saints Go Marching In with the
band accompanying, Mrs. Raynard
closed the meeting with prayer.
WMS study
various
systems
of exchange
Ruth Buchmeier was hostess for
the June 1 meeting of the South
Kinloss Women's Missionary
Society. Marita MacDougall sang
two beautiful solos.
Mrs. Buchmeier gave the Bible
study on how we should slow down
and take time to reevaluate our
lives. It seems our way of life is
always rushing and being very
busy:
•Marilynn Gilchrist very capably
did the study book on "Making
Sense Out of Our Dollars".
Economics is an everyday topic on
the news and the papers. Systems
of exchange have a lot to do with
different countries. It depends on
the resources and the goods and
services that are available and how
they are produced or distributed.
There are three kinds of systems -
traditional, common and market
economics. The economics make
the marginal decisions but we as
Christians have the responsibility to
make certain decisions on how we
make use of our money. Margaret
Hamilton read the offertory prayer.
A work bee to clean the church is
set for June 11 at 9 a.m., the day
before the anniversary services on
Sunday.
Mrs. Gilchrist and Mrs. Buch-
meier were directors and served
lunch. Kathy Howald gave the
closing prayer.
