Alicia Thacker spent 10, days with
relatives at Jekyll Island, Georgia.
She enjoyed the many attractions of
the ocean.
Visitors over the weekend with

Strathroy, and Mr. and Mrs. Ben

Mr. and Mrs. Peter van Dam
attended a Confession of Faith
service at the Christian Reform
Church in Listowel last Sunday, for
Peter's niece Andrea Askes.
Bessie Maulden, who has spent
the past month with her sister, Jean
Philips at Fonthill, returned home
on Monday.
Jean and daughter Peggy Palmer
brought her home and Jean is
staying fora visit here.
Some from here attended the
School Band Concert and play
Readin', Ritin' and Rockin', and
other program numbers at Lucknow
Central.Public School, on Wednes-
day evening.
Madeline Edward of Goderich
visited on Saturday with her cousins
Bessie Maulden and Jean Phillips
and they attended a memorial ser-
vice for a friend in Port Elgin.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott of Ripley
visited on Saturday with Edna and
May Boyle.
We extend sympathy to Betty
Johnston and family in the death of
Lloyd Johnston. The remains

Holyrood WI
The Holyrood Women's Institute
met on Thursday at the home of
Betty Bushell. Myrtle Percy.,
president, welcomed everyone and
opened the meeting in the usual
way.
Rollcall was "What's your beef?"
Members were asked to watch the
telethon over CKNX on June 4 and
5. There was an invitation •to
Ripley's 90th anniversary on June 3
and also to the new WI office in
Guelph on Aug. 21.
The district annual will be held on
May 17 at Ripley with Purple
Grove as hostess. The new commit-.
tee conveners are: Charlene
McEwen, Committee 1; Myrtle
Percy, Committee 2, . and Mary
Scott, Committee 3.
Betty Smith, as director for the
meeting, read "I wish I had known
my mother", in honor of Mother's
Day, and ."Have you Ever?". Mrs.
McEwen read "The Farm".
Hospital
auxiliary
holds annual
meeting
Twenty-twomembers attended the
annual meeting of the Auxiliary to
Wingham and District Hospital.
Welcomed by past president Mary
Lou Cameron members enjoyed
dessert and coffee. A video on "The
Gift of Time" was shown with
auxiliaries showing how they used
their volunteer time. The annual
committee reports were read by
members and the first reading of
the revised constitution was
reported.
Four members attended the spring
conference in .Fergus. The theme
was the Four' Rs: recycling,
reducing, reusing and reminiscing.
Donald Taylor, waste reduction
co-ordinator, county of Wellington,
spoke on hospital -waste
management. He also gave many
ideas on home waste management.
Susan Dunlop, historian from the
Wellington County Museum and
Archives -spoke on reminiscences of
Dr. Abraham Groves and early
nursing. Florence Nightingale was
covered with nursing around 1850.
Christina Marshall, from the Mul-
tiple Organ Retrieval, Exchange
spoke on organ donation and what
it means to us all.' Signing organ
donation cards and letting relatives
know of our intentions is an impor-
tant part of the process.

Members of LCPS's Earth Watchers club were busy planting
trees last week. Huron Landscaping donated five Emerald
Queen Norway Maple and five Newport Ash to the club for
planting around the school. Assisting were Lisa Ganderup of
Huron Landscaping and parent volunteer Dave Black.. (Pat
