'water, are delighted with the safe
arrival of their son, Trevor Jordan;
on Jan. 5, 1994, at Wingham and
District Hospital, weighing 7 lbs. 12
oz, a wee brother for Alisa.
CLARK - Kevin and Peggy, of
R.R. 5, Guelph are happy to an-
nounce the birth of Maxene Ellen,
on Dec. 20, 1993. Maxene is a little
sister for Reba and Jason. Proud
grandparents are Jim and Eleanor
Gibson, and Herb and Alene Clark,
along with great grandmothers
Alice Clark and Grace Gibson.
Holidaying
Teddy Bear
returns
The notorious Teddy Bear, of
the Mayfair Restaurant, who left
town just prior to Christmas,
without informing his employer,
has returned. ,
The kind-hearted soul was
thoughtful enough to keep
Dewayne Greig informed of his
southern sojourn. Teddy Bear
mailed postcards from Toronto;
Manasota, Florida; Orlando,
Florida; and Bermuda. Just' to
rub it in a little more, he sent- a
picture of himself complete with
travel bag and sun glasses as he
made his unannounced departure.
Teddy returned just in time to
celebrate- Christmas with the
Mayfair staff .`and the Greig
family.'

Hospital., The daughter of Rudy
and Ella Hertzler, of R.R. 2
Lucknow, arrived at 12:17 p.m.
on Jan:3, 1994.',
WALKERTON - A ° Mildmay
couple's son, Cole William, was
the first baby to arrive in 19.94
at the County of Druce General
Hospital.. Cole weighed in at 8
lbs. 4 oz. on Jan. 3 at 9:07 a.m.
Happy .parents are Robert and
Tena. Hoffele. -
SOUTHAMPTON - The early
arrival of Rebecca Rose Ladd'
gave her the honor of . being the
first' baby born in 1994 at the
Saugeen Memorial Hospital,
Southampton. Arriving at 4:20
a.m. on Jan. 1, the 6 lbs: 1 oz.
sweetheart was welcomed by
parents Janice ,and Tom Ladd, of
Cambridge. They had been
visiting in the area and had taken
the precaution of, having a Port
Elgin doctor available "just in
case."
KINCARDINE - Colin Patrick
Brooks Lakins claims the honor
of being the first 1994 baby born
at the Kincardine and District
General .Hospital. Colin, the son
of Liette Lemiew and George
Lakins arrived on, Jan. 2 at 1:35
p.m.

CLINTON Adrian Deveau
was born at the Clinton Public
Hospital on Jan. 6, 1994, at 2:14
a.m. He weighed in at 6 lbs. 11
oz. Happy parents are Diane
Meaniss and James Dcvcau, of
Vanastra.
Host exchange student
Evans and Barb Helm have the
privilege for this year of being the
host family for an exchange
student.
Marius Gabrieisen; of Norway, is
a 17 year-old student at F.E. Madill
Secondary School at-Wingham who
'is spending the year with the Helms
in Lucknow.
He brought his guitar with him
and so fits right in with the Helm
family.
Steven Hamilton of Burnaby B.C.
spent the Christmas holidays with
his parents, Bruce arid Margaret
Hamilton.
Sympathy is extended •to the
Stanley family in the passing of
Viola Stanley at ,Pinecrest Manor
last week also to her sisters, Olive
Irwin and Myrtle Percy.

Phemie Cameron returned home.
Sunday evening after spending over
three weeks visiting with her family
at Belwood, Kitchener and Fonthill.
There were eight tables of shoot
in play at the Drop in Centre on
Friday. High spots went to Blanche
MacCallum and Jim Coultes, .with
Isabel Kilpatrick and Joe Courtney
in low positions. Cliff Menary took
the most shoots.
David Cayley, of Aylesford, Nova
Scotia, was home with his parents
visiting family and friends, last
week. tlis is an Aurora pilot at
Canadian Forces Base Greenwood
where he has been promoted to
Captain.

Viola Elizabeth Stanley., a resident
of Pinecrest, ManorNurstng Home,
Lucknow, died on Jan. 3, 1994, in
her 89th year:. -
Mrs. Stanley was a member of
the Lucknow Presbyterian Church
and the Women's Missionary.

The daughter of the late George
and Sarah- (Emerson) Thompson,
she was born on Aug. 9; 1905, in.
'Huron Township, Bruce County.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her
children Velma Anderson, London;
George and his wife,. Anne of
Lucknow; Ray and his- wife Mar
garet of St. Thomas; Clarke and his
wife June of London; Jean and her
husband Jack Johnston of St. Pauls;
Roy and his wife Bessie of Londoh;
and Marlene and her husband Don
Coiling of Ripley. -
She is also survived by two
sisters, Olive Irwin of Lucknow,
and Myrtle Percy of Kinloss
Township, and a brother, Harvey
Thompson of Huron Township; 26
grandchildren , and . 31 , great ,
grandchildren. '

Lucknow Presbyterian • Church,
' conducted the funeral from the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, on Jan. 6. Soloist was
Marilyn Johnston, accompanied by
Donalda Moffat.
Flower bearers were Ronald Stan-
ley and Jeff Robbins.
Pallbearers were David Johnston,
Doug Robbins, Rob • Anderson,
Murray Coiling, Greg Stanley and
Michael Stanley.

Sewing Sowers
The Sewing Sowers kicked off
this club by learning how to take
the right measurements for clothing
and picking- out suitable patterns.
They also talked about natural and
man-made fabrics.

Jean La Rose

Jean La Rose, of Pinecrest Manor
Nursing Home, Lucknow, died
there. on Dec. 30, 1993, in her 93rd
year.
Mrs. La Rose was w memberof
the United Church and a member of
the Royal Canadian Legion
Auxiliary for, 50 'years.
The daughter of the late Murdock
and Elizabeth (Hall) Campbell was
born in Ripley, on Aug. 17,..1901.
On Oct. 22, 1924, she married
Robert La Rose of Kincardine, who
predeceased her.
Mrs. La Rose 'is survived by her
children, Campbell La Rose of
Vancouver, B.C.,; Murdock' La
Rose, of Meaford; Joyce Louther,
R.R. '2, . Holyrood, and Lauretta
Robertson, of R.R. 5, Kincardine;
19 grandchildren, 36 great'
grandchildren, and six great, great
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by . her hus-
band Robert; sons Russell, Willard,
Robert (infancy); daughter Margaret
Sitter; brothers Malcom, Jess,
Donald, Roy and Arthur; and sisters
Annie, Elizabeth, Mora and Ada.
The funeral service was con-
ducted by • Norman Perry at the
Davey-Linklater Funeral Home,
Kincardine.
Pallbearers were Bob Sitter,
Bryon ' Sitter, Wayne Robertson,
Bob La 'Rose, Chris Louther and
Steve La Rose.
Interment Kincardine Cemetery. .
