ANALYSIS REPORT
NOW AVAILABLE
The 40th annual Farm Manage-
ment Analysis report is now
available at local Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food offices.
Based on information from 662
farms, the 30 -page report contains
tables with financial analyses of
farm enterprises by commodity.
Eight commodities are covered:
dairy cows, beef cows, beef
feedlot, sheep, hogs (farrow,
farrow -to -finish, and finish), and
cash crops.
The analyses include all of the
farms surveyed in each category as
well as the top one-third of per-
formers in each. (All participants
in the project receive individual,
confidential reports on their opera-
tions.)
"The emphasis is on farmer pro-
fitability and better decision-
making," says Rob Lindsay,
OMAF farm business analysist.
"The report provides guidelines
for standards of performance and
allows individual farm managers
to compare their operation with
typical farms in their commodity
group."
The Ontario Farm Management
Analysis project, started in 1946, is
a joint venture by OMAF's agri-
cultural representative's branch
and the Ontario Agricultural Col-
lege's department of agricultural
economics and business at the
University of Guelph. ❑
