owned by Clifford and Fred
Brown was the host site for this
prestigious annual sale event.
Browns have had purebred Guern-
seys for twenty-one years and their
herd has been the top ODHIC pro-
duction herd in Bruce County for
the past five consecutive years.
In July, the Browns hosted an
open -house with a cold
smorgasbord, musical entertain-
ment and an opportunity to view
the cattle. Earlier that day fifteen
enthusiastic Guernsey youths
toured the New Life Flour and
Feed Mill in Hanover, the Pine
River Cheese factory and spent
what remained of the afternoon at
Poplar Beach on Lake Huron,
returning to Browns for the open
house evening.
Over 200 people attended the
sale on July 23. Agri -Business
advertisers, sponsors, and Karen
Splinter the 1986 Ontario Guern-
sey Queen were amongst the
special guests. Short meetings of
both the Canadian and Ontario
Directors were held in conjunction
with this sale. The Classic is
managed entirely through the
volunteer efforts of the Sale Com-
mittee comprised of Guernsey
breeders from across Ontario. ❑
