The speakers and demonstra- tions stressed "a total systems approach," including conservation drainage, and soil and crop management. "Demo -Day" was spon- sored by the Ontario Farm Drainage Association and was endorsed by the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. Bob Blackwell, Ripley, tells Ken Mackenzie, of Goderich, his opi- nion of this interlocking cement block spillway. This same material is used to construct safe erosion -proof, low level, stream and ditch crossings. A fibrous mat has been laid down in the background to hold the soil in place while grass seed has time to sprout and become established.
