(bacon, ham. etc.) and it is a quality pro-
duct. but sometimes it is still perceived as
being fatty and second class. We can and
should help to improve this image.
A suggestion was made to give pro-
ducer opinions a higher profile. A higher
profile is needed on tariffs, subsidies. and
other pressing issues. Possibly a more
local committee could effectively carry
this out.
An idea to "twin" with an Iowa pork pro-
ducers association was suggested. We
need to see each other as friends through
this economically difficult time. We could,
learn and gain much from this kind of
friendship with pork producers in the U.S.
