The three-day congress, Canada's largest exhibition for all segments of the pork industry drew approximately 10,000 visitors. When earlier this year the congress commit- tee discussed moving the event to London, Stratford Mayor Ted Blowes began to sell his city, hard and long, said Dave Ireland, past vice- president of the Pork Congress. Ireland encouraged pork producers to sell their product in the same way. A few of the highlights: On his last day as Minister of Agriculture and Food, Ross Stevenson spoke to those attending the Ontario Pork Congress. The ef- fectiveness of his message was limited because of the expected demise of the Ontario Progressive Conservative government in the legislature that day. Photo by Stephanie Levesque
