Jim Powers and Brian Ireland were
appointed to the new Farm Finance
Review Board. They were appointed
to represent the Bruce County Fed-
eration of Agriculture at the monthly
directors meeting in Walkerton on
December 10.
The Review Board has been set up
for a three-month experimental
period in Grey, and Bruce Counties
to see if this kind of intervention can
help farmers in financial difficulty.
Members of the Bruce County ex-
ecutive committee will be available as
advisors to help any farmer, who
wishes to appear before the board, to
help prepare his case.
Bruce County delegates, who re-
cently attended the Ontario Federa-
tion of Agriculture annual meeting in
Toronto, reported their impressions
of the meeting. All were unanimously
disappointed in both the foremat and
the subjects chosen for discussion.
Brian Ireland, said the convention
was too structured and there was not
enough discussion about agricultural
financing. He slammed the OFA ex-
ecutive and agricultural minister Tim-
brell for their actions during the past
year.
Christina Maus was disappointed
and said, from what she heard at the
convention, she didn't think that
OFA was representing the concerns
of farmers in Bruce County.
The Bruce County directors set
aside time on their next agenda to
prepare proposals to improve next
year's convention.
A major portion of this meeting
was used to appoint twelve commit-
tees for the coming year. ❑
