Mediator appointed to work
on teachers' contract talks
A mediator has been appointed to
work on contract talks between the
Bruce Board of Education and its
elementary teachers.
Helen Finley of Kingston was
appointed Apr. 14, but so far no
date for new talks has been set.
Contract talks with two other
employee groups have been more
successful.
Trustees ratified a contract with
the board's audio-visual technicians,
and have a tentative agreement with
CUPE local 1330, which represents
the board's custodians.
Finance chair Alan Mackay said
Apr. 20 that contract will be "a
reflection of the times we are in."
Mackay offered special thanks to
CUPE for working toward an.
agreement that is "agreeable to both
sides," and said the deal will likely
be ratified in two-four weeks.
CUPE 1330 is the board's biggest
employee group other than teachers.
