West Wawanosh Township coun-
cil deemed it expedient to move the
tax due dates ahead by 10 days.
The first instalment is now due on
June 15 and the second and final on
Nov. 15. Increased borrowing and
interest charges, and lower in-
vestment interest received in 1992
necessitated the change.
The Amish community in the St.
Helen's area finds it necessary to
build another school in West
Wawanosh Township, making a
total of three.
A delegation informed council 'at
its Apt -6 meeting that they expect
20 students for the school in Sep-
tember 1993. Their projection .for
the next five years is 107 students
in total, which would result in the.
need for an additional school in the
St. Helen's area at that 'time.
Cynthia Fisher, from the Huron
•County Planning Depaniment," in-
formed "council that the application
to amend the comprehensive zoning
bylaw to allow establishment of the..
Amish Parochial School "would be
supported by that department.
Council subsequently passed the
bylaw rezoning part "of the north
half of lot 24, concession 9, from
agriculture _ to institutional/status
zone, which means" for that school
only.
The amount of $2,214, previously .

West Wawanosh Township
debited to the Dungannon Drain
account, was written off. Council
approved the write-off because
there is no current llylaw or plan
for assessment of drains in Dungan-
non, and the 1990 .and 1991 drain
repairs provided the greatest benefit
to the township roads (streets).
A letter' from concerned residents
in. Dungannon concerning the
dangerous condition of a house in
the hamlet was received. The
owners will be contacted by the
property standards bylaw.
Roads
Council accepted the quotation of

The tender of . Bannerman
Contracting wasaccepted to haul
and apply approximately 10,000
tons and 15,000 cubic yards, and
stockpile approximately 500 cubic
yards, of 3/4" gravel, 'for $1.45 per

Thanks from the food bank
Lorraine Brophy, co-ordinator of
the Lucknow District Food Bank,
said the Easter Saturday drive in
Lucknow and Ripley was extremely
successful. "Both buses in Lucknow
and Ripley were filled with food,"
said Mrs. Brophy.
Mrs. Brophy said the area food
bank, one of 17 in Bruce and Grey
Counties, is in "good shape." Area
churches make donations on an on-
going basis.
In Lucknow, the food bank chick-
en, Isabel Shepherd, once again
roosted in the area of the bus.
Entertainment was also provided by
singers,Raylene ' Rebryna and
Rachel ritchard.
Mrs. Brophy said the tremendous
support of G.T. Montomgery Ltd.
in supplying 'the buses and the bus
drivers who volunteer their time is
instrumental in the success of the
food drives. Also the co-operation
and generosity of Brian Knechtel
for the parking space and his
donations makes planning and run-
ning the drive that much easier
locally.
