Atom house league plays
in Mildmay tournament
Last Tuesday, the Atom house
league squad travelled to Ripley
for an exhibition game.

The first period, ended in a
scoreless tie and it wasn't until near
the end of the second that Andy
Evans' backhand put Lucknow on
the scoreboard, assisted by Clint
Gunter.
Ripley scored early in the third to
draw even but a shot from Steve
Hare regained the lead for Luck -
now. The Ripley team's aggressive
play earned them many scoring
opportunities only to be stopped
again and again by a hot Lucknow
goalie, Andrew Pickard.
Final score Lucknow 2, Ripley 1.
- • Mildmay Tournament
On Thursday, Lucknow travelled
to Mildmay to take part in the 34th
Mildmay Atom Tournament.
Lucknow's first opponent was a
team from Hanover.
Steve Hare opened the scoring for
Lucknow after he took control of
the puck behind the Hanover's net
and slipped it between the post and
the goalie. Lucknow scored again
on a shot from Jeremy Clough,

Walton folks visit in Grove
Mr.. and Mrs. Mervin Smith from
Walton visited last Wednesday with
Marion Emerson of Purple Grove.
Six tables of euchre and one of
crokinole were enjoyed at the
Purple Grove Community Centre.
Lucky winners were Kay McCor-
mick, -Bob Emerson, Marion
Gamble and .Denney Farrell. Next
card party Apr. 16. A supper will
be held in the Centre from 4-6 p.m.
on Apr. 18.

Ann Kukoly visited with Ann's
brother Currie Colwell in Lucknow
last Sunday.

to threaten the lead but when the
buzzer went the final score _was
Lucknow 3, Hanover 2.
Steve Hare was chosen most
valuable player for Lucknow.
Game Two
Lucknow's next game was Satur-
day morning against Durham.
Durham jumped into an early lead
until the second period when Mat-
thew Holmes put the puck between
the goalie's legs, assisted by Steve
Hare.
Durham scored midway through
the third to again take the lead and
an empty net goal insured their win
as they knocked Lucknow out of
the tournament with a 3 to 1 score.

Bantam "A"
team downs
Ripley
The Lucknow Bantam "A" team
played Ripley in the group playoffs.
Lucknow played an intense game at
home to come away with a 3 - 1
win in the first game.
The second game in Ripley found
Lucknow on the short end of the
scoreboard.
The final game would see Ripley
give the series to Lucknow as they
could not ice a full team and time
was running out.
The next leg of the series put
Lucknow against a team from
Ayton. Lucknow settled for runner -
sup, losing both games to Ayton.
This winds up a busy season for
the Bantam players, coaches and
parents.
Thanks to coaches Stephen Mac-
Pherson, Steve Simpson and trainer
Ron Schell for all the time devoted
to the team.
The Lucknow Minor Spgrt ban-
quet on Apr. 2 is the concluding
event for hockey and ringette
players.
Pee Wees win nine straight
to become group two champs
The Pee Wee A's are Group Two
champions due to the great effort
put forth in the nine straight playoff
wins!
The team's last trophy win came
on Mar. 22 against a determined
Drayton team. The strong offensive
Lucknow squad scored once again
in the first minute of action. It was
Craig Moffat who dented the twine
with a strong slap shot, assisted by
Dennis Lubbers and Jonathon
MacKinnon. That held off Drayton
until the half way point of the first,
when they managed to tie up the.
game.
Thirty seconds later, Greg
Courtney gave Lucknow the lead on
nice passes from George Carter and
Tim Vissor.
With minutes to spare in the first,
Craig Moffat scored once more,
with assists going to Lubbers and
MacKinnon. Lucknow brought the
first period to a close with a 3 - 1
PEE WEE
lead.
Chad Freeman bumped Lucknow
up another goal during the second,
with G. Courtney and Vissor setting
him up.
Lucknow took a lethal five minute
penalty but was able to fight it off
with effort put out by all the
players. Ean Moffat picked up the
fifth goal in the third with assists to
MacKinnon and Lubbers to give
Lucknow the 5 - 1 lead.
Great goal tending was exhibited
by Jordan Andrew and a terrific
game played by the whole team.

Dave, Mike _ and Murray for
coaching them to this awesome
high!
