Mrs. Cameron's kindergarten class
just finished a book on the things.
they love. They also learned some
valentine songs, and cut out cupids.
To make sure none of their valen-'
tines got lost, they made pockets.
Now they are starting a unit on
dinosaurs.
Mrs. McMillion's kindergarten
class was observing ground 'hogs,
and made their own weather
reports. Scott Blake was upset when
the sun came out, he wanted to go
camping. Blake wanted the ground
hog to go back to sleep, he likes
winter. The kindergarten class is
also learning to rhyme and recog-
nize, they make numerals to 10.
Their Beary Good Reader program
is well under way. Laura Bere is in
the lead by a long shot. It is
important to read to your children.
Mrs. Hodsman's Grade 1 class
made "Jam Berry Bamberry Zoom
Berry Woosh Berry Books" with
Mrs. Clarke. They have had a
Jamberry dance, made biscuits, and
a mural with 100 berries hidden on
it for One Hundreds Day. In the
bad news department, the, gerbils
got into a fight and are now in
solitary confinement.
Miss Robert's and Miss
. Anguish's Grade 1/2 class had also
been celebrating 100th day. They
were busyvvaking murals on 100
hearts, and bringing collections of
100 things. They have started a unit
on snow and are working on snow
experiments in science. o-
Mrs. Baker's and Miss Wise's
Grade 2/3 class " has started the
'Kids on the Block" program about
abuse. They also had a :Valentine
Party. They have been involved in
story telling, and poems. They are
starting an Inuitunit and learning
about children in other countries.
Junior News
Mrs. Worsell's, class is very proud
of Tory Westbrook and Tannis
Chisholm who placed first in the
school public speaking competition„
for the junior grades. Both girls
spoke at the Lucknow Legion on
Feb. 19. The class is finishing their
mystery novel study and they are.
having a test this week. They are
choosing countries for their Euro-
pean research project. They will do
their research at the library and also
prepare a display about their coun-

On Feb. 6, Grade 3/4, Mrs
Tebbutt's class gave her a 'surprise
welcome with pizza. The class hat.
been working on weather projects.
They have been gathering informa-
tion. They will. be presenting ,pro-
jects in class. In math they have
been "rapping" division and multi-
plication.
Mr. Culp's Grade 5 class is
enthralled with the microscopic
world. Getting a strand of human
hair mounted on a slide and proper-
ly focused 'is a challenge. Now
we'll have to see if all animal hair
is alike. Then of course there are
plant hairs, cells, molds, the
smallest, part of a feather etc. It's a
whole new world!
Mr. Lobb's class is working on a
unit on World War II. In math the
Grade 4s will be working on divid-
ing with decimals and then on
geometry. They will continue on in
science with more work on crystals.
Intermediate News
Mrs. Dozois' Grade 6/1 class has
been busy this month: They have
created some novel study projects
for, their Canadian authors novel
study unit. The Grade 6s are busy,
working on "A Famous Doctor"
essay. the Grade 7s. have been
working on "Natural Disasters" and
"Human -Based Disasters" essays in
the library, and are also working
with Ducie Cameron on Values and
Decision Making.
Miss Morton's Grade 7/8 'class
has also been busy this month. The
Grade 7s ha've been busy doing
their second novel study of the
month, False Face. The Grade 8s
have . been busy finishing up their
novel study questions on Johnny
Tremain.
And last but not least, Mr.
Hazlitt's Grade 8 class is busy
working' on finding the area of
circles in math and soon will be
working on volume. In geography
they just finished a group work
activity, learning about underdevel-
oped countries. They are very busy
each week with a special guest,
Dixie Cameron, who is working
with them on the Values and Deci-
eporting
sion Making program.
Special Events
Let it Snow! Let it. Snow! Let 'it
Snow! The school's last -skating day
was snowed out so our second date
will be Feb. 26. Moms and dads are
welcome to help tie skates.' Con-
gratulations to all the public speak-
ing people that made it to the gym,
and . congratulations to Brent
Cameron, Cathy Carincross, and
runner up Susan Bieman, and to
Tory Westbrook, Tannis. Chishohn,
and runner up Danielle Brooks, who
will be representing our school at
the legion.
Our librarian Mrs. Clarke bought '
new paperback books for the library
last week. We're looking forward to
reading them! Both senior girls and
boys are now starting basketball
with Miss Roberts and Miss
Anguish. The junior boys and girls
did very well in the volleyball
tournament.
Last Saturday the Pollution Sol-
ution Club had a winter walk at
Cedarvale. They had a picnic Iunch
in the house with yummy hot choc-
olate and brownies kindly provided
by .the Stevens. The Stevens were
presented with several bluebird
' birdhouses by the club to say thank
you for the interest and help the
Stevens have shared. ,

The Lucknow Lancers wrapped
up the 1992=93 season last Wednes-
day dropping a 5-2 decision to
Lion's Head. This was the fifth and
deciding 'game in the best .of five
series, as the visitors overcame a
two, game deficit to oust the .
Lancers.
Brad'Priestap scored both Lancer.
goals early in the first only to have
Lion's Head battle back for five
unanswered goals.
The Lancers would like to thank
those in attendance at the playoff
games and through the regular
season for their support both on and
off the ice. Also thanks to Ken
Irwin for organizing theblue line
clubs, and all those workers; all our
