The Grey County Federation of Agriculture Board of Directors will meet Wed. Nov. 13, 1983 at the OMAF boardroom in Markdale at 1 p.m. This will be the first meeting of the 1983-84 board of directors. Elections for four executive directors will be held and appointments to committees will also be made. If you are interested in any of the following committee activities you will be most welcome to attend the meeting: Finance, Membership, Municipal Af- fairs, Property Taxation, Education, Resolutions, Policy, Market and Pro- motion, Public Relations, Insurance, Research and Resource, Arda, or the Farm Labour Pool. Township Annual Meetings: Carl Spencer, past -president of the Canadian Farm Survival Association and vice-president of the Grey Fed- eration was guest speaker at the Egremont Federation of Agriculture Annual Meeting on Nov. 4 Carl discussed factors that have contri- buted to the present depressed condi- tion of Ontario agriculture and the formation and activities of the Survi- val Association. Carl. presented some solutions to the situation that the county federation could persue and he urged members to get involved. Allan Wilford, President of the Canadian Farm Survival Association was guest speaker at the Normanby Township Annual Meeting in Ayton. Over 140 interested farm people crowded into the Ayton Community Centre to hear Allan discuss the actions of the Survival Association, the deplorable economic conditions farmers find themselves in across North America and in Europe and some of the things we as farmers can do to put some of the profit back in agriculture. Several good questions and Allan's . quick wit made the question period interesting and infor- mative. To the question, "What has Dennis Timbrell really done for farmers?" Allen answered that Den- nis is accomplishing what most farmers thought was impossible - he's PG. 58 THE RURAL VOICE, DECEMBER 1983 making Lorne Henderson look better every day. Bentinck's annual meeting was held Nov. 8; Sydenham and Proton town- ships will meet Nov. 24. As time progresses, high grain prices and pork and beef prices below the cost of production, point to an ever tightening situation for many Grey County farmers.
