The Rural Voice, 1983-12, Page 54YOUNG FARMER "Think Positive - The Future is Yours" Enthusiasm and Junior Farmers seem to go hand in hand and the Zone 7 Junior Farmer Conference held recently in Palmerston certainly was no ex- ception. About 65 Junior Farmers from Grey, Bruce, Huron and Perth counties participated in group activities and discussed and listened to speakers stress the importance of positive thinking. The theme for the day was "Think Positive -The Future is Yours. "Emphasis was placed on setting realistic goals for the near and distant future, to gain self-confidence and to master the power of positive thinking. Dan Rose, regional manager of the Ag. Rep. Branch for Central Ontario encouraged setting up specific goals which are attainable and to include an incentive to get the job done. Dave Mitchell, a dairy farmer from the Hamilton -Wentworth Jr. Farmers stressed the importance of a positive attitude, something that he has achieved through involvement with the Dale Carnegie course which he now helps teach. "Our brains are comprised of 95 per cent positive thoughts and 5 per cent negative thoughts", he said, "However, 70 per cent of the time, we think negative thoughts. We can control the negative aspect of the brain," he said, adding that negativeness is the worst disease in the world. A banquet and dance concluded the conference with guest speaker, Marilyn Sewell, a very active Junior Farmer from Durham county who is employed with the Farm Safety Association. ❑ Where Hopper goes, the water flows • PROMPT RELIABLE SERVICE • FREE ESTIMATES • 5 MODERN ROTARY RIGS Call Collect Neil 527-1737 James 527-0775 Durl 527-0828 W.D.
