Keeps drivers awake
A new alarm device, called Safex
Drive Alert, is designed to wake up
sleepy drivers and warn them before a
seriou° accident occurs.
Made of lightweight plastic, the
Safex Drive Alert weighs less than an
ounce and is contoured to fit comfor-
tably behind the ear. It can be worn
even if the driver wears eyeglasses. As
soon as the driver's head begins to
nod, an 86 -decibel buzzing signal
sounds -- enough to wake someone
dozing off, according to the Cana-
dian distributor Doverchem Limited.
In the U.S., the American
Automobile Association has taken an
active interest in selling the device to
its members with the understanding
that the device should not be used to
keep a driver awake, only to give ear-
ly warning of approaching sleep.
The patented Drive Alert is
powered by a hearing aid battery and
can be switched off for storage.
The retail price is approximately
$19.95 and information is available
from Doverchem Limited, P.O. Box
66, Agincourt, Ontario M I S 3B4. Or,
you can phone (416) 487-7956. ❑

AreYouSqueezingThe Life
Out Of Your Soil?
The idea is quite simple really ... you can pick up a handful of damp
soil and feel it for yourself.
Take that earth in the palm of your hand ... you can see and feel
how the loose crumbly structure can hold the nutrients, moisture and
oxygen that crops need to grow and flourish.
But squeeze that soil in your fist and you squeeze the capacity to
promote growth and plant life right out of soil. If you can do that
with a squeeze of your hand, what does the weight of a tractor and
spreader do?
An LH manurigation system eliminates that kind of compaction and
supplies your crops' nutrient needs!
