OSCIA receives money
The Ontario Soil and Crop Im-
provement Association will receive
$65,500 toward staff and administra-
tion expenses in its promoting of bet-
ter soil management, higher crop
yields and improved varieties,
Agriculture and Food Minister Den-
nis Timbrell has announced.
The association represents county
or district soil and crop improvement
associations across the province
through its directors, elected by the
local groups.
"The grant allows the association
to employ its own secretary -
manager," the minister added.
The Ontario Crop Improvement
Association, as it was then called, was
formed in 1938. In 1952, it became
the Ontario Soil and Crop Improve-
ment Association to recognize the
organization's concern for and the
importance of soil management. ❑
