Royalty runs in family
On September 8 the 4-H King and Queen contest was held at the Owen
Sound Fair. Prospective kings and queens were judged separately and when
the winners were announced it turned out the judges chose Sandra and
Glenn Abercrombie, sister and brother from St. Vincent Township.
OMAF holds farm
management workshops
Management for Profit, a series of
farm management workshops spon-
sored by the Ministry of Agriculture
and Food, will be held in nine loca-
tions across Ontario November 21 to
December 3.
The one -day seminars feature a
team of farm management specialists
including Dr. Hiram Drache, a well-
known farm management consultant,
university lecturer and farmer from
Fargo, North Dakota; Richard
Hiscocks, a farmer from Lakeside,
Ontario; and staff from the
ministry's agricultural representatives
branch.
Among the subjects to be covered
are capital investments, record keep-
ing for the 80s, tools for analysing the
farm business, and profitable
marketing ideas.
The seminars begin at 9 a.m. and
conclude at 4 p.m. Tickets must be
purchased in advance from local
agricultural offices. Fees are $20 per
person including lunch and a copy of
the farm management information
handbook. Additional family
members may attend the sessions and
luncheon for $10 per person.
