continuing shift of specialized
agricultural production. Farmers
indicated a need for training in
specific crop production, harvesting
and management techniques.
The survey was conducted by the
Federal/Provincial Agricultural
Employment Committee which in-
cludes representation from Canada
Employment and Immigration Com-
mission and the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food. This
committee is responsible for assessing
current and future employment needs
of the agriculture industry and
recommending strategies to meet
them.
The Ontario Federation of
Agriculture, the Ontario Fruit and
Vegetable Growers Association, the
Ontario Tobacco Growers
Association and local agricultural
manpower boards participated in and
supported the survey.
These groups will be taking the
report back to their members for
discussion and will make
recommendations to the ministry.
