Speaker for the evening (introduc-
ed by Gerry Fortune) was Dr. Frank
Hurnik, Professor of the Animal and
Poultry Science Dept. at the universi-
ty of Guelph, who showed slides and
gave a commentary on the increasing
threat of Animal Welfarists and the
importance to farmers of not
underestimating their power.
Dr. Hurnik was thanked by John
Nesbit and presented with a small
gift.
Don Pullen, OMAF, passed out
outlines of the Ontario Beginning
Farmer Assistance Program. Merle
Gunby explained this program is not
exactly what OFA appealed for.
Merle asked if anyone would be in-
terested in attending the OFA
Cabinet Brief presentation in Toron-
to. Anyone interested can contact
Merle or their regional director.
A thank you letter was read from
Anne White, wife of Ron White, for
our contribution to the cancer society
in memory of Ron.
