OMAF plans
managing seminars
To highlight the importance of
farm business management, the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food will
hold a series of eight seminars across
the province in late November and
early December, minister Dennis
Timbrell announced recently.
The eight seminars will be held in
London, Waterloo, Hanover,
Newmarket, Peterborough, Kemp-
tville, North Bay and Thunder Bay.
The keynote speaker will be Dr.
Hiram Drache, a farmer, farm
management consultant and universi-
ty lecturer from Fargo, North
Dakota. His topic will be "A
Management Philosophy for Pro-
fitable Farming."
The program will cover such topics
as making capital investment deci-
sions regarding quota, land or
machinery, farm record-keeping
systems for the '80s, tools for analys-
ing the farm business, marketing pro-
fitably and personal experiences of
Ontario farmers about business
management on their farms.
"These decisions will serve as a
natural lead-in to this year's farm
management courses, entitled
Management For Profit ', being
sponsored by my ministry," said
Agriculture Minister Dennis Tim-
brell.
Those interested in attending can
obtain more information from their
local office of the ministry's
agricultural representatives branch. E
