A good crowd attended. Nancy Bardecki, director of Farm Assistance Programs for OMAF presented their program and answered questions. Also present was Earl Winters director of special properties branch Ministry of Revenue; Bruce Taylor chair- man of OFA Tax and Assessment Committee. Bob McKessock M.P.P. for Grey County and Ray Robertson chair- man of GCFA Property and Taxation Committee. Results of the votes taken are as follows: 1. Are you in favor of the $5000 gross production figure? Yes 80 — No 32. 2. Are you in favor of indexing the gross production? Yes. 0 — No 137. 3. Are you in favor of the 50 per cent rebate on the whole property except in no case shall the rebate on the residential portion exceed the rebate on the farm portion? Yes 115 — No 8. 4. Are you in favor of the 100 per cent rebate as proposed by the Ontario Government? yes 17 — No 132. The bankers meeting for Grey and Bruce directors was postponed to a later date. A bill was received from OMAF for expenses of Grey Bruce Farmers week. A motion was passed to pay the $101 .40 to OMAF. Bill C653 was discussed at length and a decision was made to support OFA's position. Copies of Bill C653 are avail- able at the Hanover office. OFA "Future Directions" was also discussed. Grey would like to see the number of directors stay as it is now and suggested a yearly seminar for new directors. It was unanimous that closer organizational ties between counties and OFA was necessary. Grey directors would prefer a small increase in ISM fees over a three year period rather than one large increase. Directors were in favor of "Associate Members" who wouldn't have voting rights but could participate in the insurance plans. Re Fuel Tax. When the Government reduced the road tax. gas companies did not immediately reduce their prices. Bruce Federation has formed an Energy Committee and hopefully they will share their findings with us. Grey Federation has been discussing a Federation News and Annual Report to be published for the Annual Meeting on Oct 15. A meeting of the Public Relations and Marketing and Promotion Commit- tees will be held on June 6 to get started. Bad news from Egremont Township Federation; their council failed to collect the Federation levy on their taxes last year which means a loss of $1000 approximately for the County Federation. The Centre Grey Plowmen had a very successful dance and 50-50 draw at the Flesherton Community Centre to make money for the 1987 Plowing Match. Ontario Hydro set up information centres throughout the area so that anyone interested could see the pro- posed routes and talk with the hydro staff. Hydro lawyers have called a hearing at Durham June 6 to establish the place and criteria for future hearings. A property compensation meeting is in Alliston on June 7. The regular meeting is at Collingwood on June 23. The June meeting of Grey Fed. of Agriculture has been cancelled as haying should be in progress at that time.
