Be it resolved the O.P.P.M.B. continue to
consider supply management as a pos-
sible alternative marketing strategy and
keep itself abreast of its intrinsic
advantages and disadvantages as they
apply to marketing pigs in Ontario.
It was defeated by a large majority
showing the unwillingness of Ontario
producers to accept or even talk about
supply management in their industry.
LOCAL MEETING
The Perth County Pork Producers held
a meeting at the OMAF office in Stratford
with 28 producers attending.
The committee structure was approved
as recommended by the executive. Also
approved was a motion to increase the
grants given to Perth County 4H swine
clubs, the increase to be from $60 to
$150. There are six swine clubs in the
county.

At a recent executive meeting a
proposal to form a Development Commit-
tee was discussed and the following draft
was made:
Job Description - 1) To increase the
awareness of the Perth County Pork
Producers Association among its mem-
bers. 2) To arrange and co-ordinate social
interaction between pork producers in
the county, e.g. picnics, bonspiels,
dinner meetings, etc.
Committee Structure: Chairman - select-
ed by Directors, plus three other mem-
bers, one to be a director and two to be
producers from the county who are not
elected directors.
The chairman to be appointed to a two
year term, beginning in 1983.
One non -director member be appointed
for one year, one non -director member be
appointed for two years and one director
to be appointed for one year. Each year
following, two members will be named to
the committee for two years.
The first two non -director members
should be appointed by the directors but
in succeeding years the Association
would appoint its member at the annual
meeting.
