crops and the farming situation," he
says with a shrug.
But Dave doesn't mind the occasional
misconception in outsiders' views of
the club. Junior Farmer's has put him
back in touch with one of the things he
missed most about coming to UWO -
involvement with other rural people.
Another club member, Sherry Robert-
son, who grew up on a Bluevale-area
beef farm, came from a rural back-
ground, but had never been involved
with Junior Farmers before coming to
Western.
Sherry, like other club members,
finds that her fellow students, es-
pecially those from the Toronto area,
just haven't a clue what Junior Farmers
is all about. But she had managed to
lure some fellow rural students into the
club.
They'll also be lending a hand when
the university plays host to handi-
capped children from the area, with
various clubs providing the entertain-
ment.
While the UWO club meets regularly,
the first really visible activity they're
planning in the university community is
a St. Patrick's Day Dance, March 12.
Also, the university club hopes to
establish a bursary as one of their
community betterment projects.
