PERTH PORK ANNUAL
Dan Kerr left, a Listowel area pork
producer, accepts a health question-
naire from Glenn Agnew. Secretary of
the Ontario Pork Producers Marketing
Board as Allan Zehr looks on. The
OPPMB is conducting a study of the
occupational hazards in pig barns and
what steps producers can take to
protect themselves. Agnew attended the
Perth County annual meeting in order to
get as many producers as possible to
complete the questionnaire --- the
Board hopes to get 1500 completed by
producers across Ontario who spend
over ten hours a week in a hog barn.
The study will involve medical research
people. statisticians and engineers and
is to be completed by the winter of
1984. Fifty producers will be invited to
have special medical examinations to
determine their health status. Anyone
wishing to complete a questionnaire
can call Agnew at 416-621-1874.

DIRECTORS' MEETING
At the first directors' meeting of the
Perth County Pork Producers Associa-
tion George Lupton was honoured and
presented with a special award by
newly elected president Bob Stephen.
Lupton has been a member of the
original pork producers association
since 1960 and has served as secretary
for the past 12 years. He will continue
as an alternate director.
