change their image from a strictly
social group always out for a good time
to a group of caring young people
interested in making a contribution to
their communities. Each year the Jr.
Farmer clubs in Huron compete for the
Community Betterment Award which is
presented by the Huron Federation of
Agriculture. This year's winner was the
West Huron Club and Larry Henderson.

OFA Regional Director for Northwest
Huron. The club's main protect last year
was the rebuilding of the baseball
diamond at the Brookside Public
School. They also made donations to
several charitable causes. The money
was raised through food booths at the
ladies' baseball tournament and at the
Lucknow tractor pull

Bill Armstrong outlined the qualities
necessary to win the annual 'Fink"
award and then called Jr Farmer King
Kevin Dutot from the Seaforth Club to
come forward [midst applause and
laughter] to accept the award which
turned out to be an interesting T-shirt
to be worn in Australia On January
13th 46 Jr. Farmers from Huron. Perth.
Bruce and Grey counties left for a
month's tour of Australia and New
Zealand In 1984 a contingent of Young
Farmers from Australia will come to
Canada for an exchange visit.
Each year the Huron Jr Farmers pre-
sent an award to the first year member
who has made the greatest contribution
to the club Michele Regier from the
Seaforth Club is seen above [right]
