POINT OF VIEW
Huron County Federation of Agriculture
sponsors one member of the five county
Junior Farmer clubs to go to the OFA Con-
vention.
First, the Junior Farmer club has to win
the community betterment award of the
year. This award is won by doing a number
of betterment projects throughout the
year in the community.
Last year the Seaforth Junior Farmer
Club won the award which was presented
at the annual banquet. Then, in the fall.
the Seaforth Club was contacted to send
a representative to the OFA Convention in
November.
As I am involved in farming and its ever
increasing problems, I volunteered to go
to the OFA Convention. My name is Terry
Smith, and I am working on my father's
three farms in McKillop Township, where
we operate a hundred Charolais cow -calf
operation, also a farrow to finish opera-
tion.
The speakers I found of real interest
were the Honorable Dennis Timbrell, and
the Honorable Eugene Whelan, and the
newly re-elected OFA President Ralph
Barrie. I also learned a lot from the three

speakers, also from the members who
spoke on the resolutions.
Some of the information I learned was
picked up at a wine and cheese party.
which was held for all of us, a dinner ban-
quet, and a small get-together in so-
meone's room.
In ending, I would like to say one of the
best ways to be educated more about far-
ming, is to get away, to see and talk to
people and hear their ideas. I learned a lot
when I attended the OFA Convention and
some things I will never forget.
