The Rural Voice, 1982-11, Page 45I HURON FEDERATION (cont. from page 54) Paul Klopp represents Huron at waste management hearing The Ontario Waste Management Corporation held public meetings in London in October to discuss their "Facilities Development Process Report". Paul Klopp represented the Huron County Federation of Agriculture. The Federation commented on many aspects of the report. Paul pointed out some farmers feel it is important to deal effectively with the hazardous waste problem. To minimize risks from transportation, it is important to recycle and reduce waste substances at their source. For wastes which can't be handled in this fashion, OWMC treatment facilities should be located close to the major source of these pollutants. Paul went on to remind the Waste Management Panel of the Federation's concern for avoiding impacts on good farm land. The Federation's brief was well received. The Chairman Dr. Donald Chant was impressed with the Federation's suggestion that a portable centrifuge might hold promise as a means of waste separation and reduction.
