Highlights on the Pork Industry
The directors of the Perth County Pork Producers invited the
office staff of the OPPMB to their annual picnic. The purpose of
the combined event was to allow both groups to rub elbows at an
informal gathering, to become acquainted with each other and
discuss their work. A tour of GIP Farms gave the city people an
opportunity to view a real live hog operation. There was one
slight hitch. It turned out, that office workers on their day off
enjoy sitting in the sunshine, whereas the farmers preferred to
gather in the shade. Thanks goes to Robert Stephen for
organizing the event, to Gerald Matheson for cooking an
excellent feed of smoked pork chops and to the Wildwood
Conservation Authority for providing the facilities.
