Merry Christmas!
Any reader who ran down the list of contents of this month's
Rural Voice which appears next to these words might well wonder
what kind of Christmas issue is this anyway?
And it's true to many farmers Christmas 1981 is not going to be
the rosiest. Recognizing crisis times in the agriculture industry,
Rural Voiee brings you survival suggestions and even a story on
the upswing in unwelcome psychological effects of financial
stress.
Farm machinery dealers are feeling the pinch too, as Adrian
Vos' discussions with some of them show. [See the story on page
9] Nod there's no sense pretending all is well in farming... too
many people, perhaps your own neighbour or your own family will
tell you differently. But there are solutions, including the personal
letters that Bev Brown says politicians pay a great deal of
attention to [see her story starting on page 61.
Other solutions are contained in Tips for Lean Times, on page
7. courtesy of Farmland Canada, a relatively new farm
management guide. This month as well Rural Voice has a look at
Grey County's apple industry. by writer Susan Glover of Shallow
Lake.
But the real Christmas feeling in this month's Rural Voice
comes from a farm feature on the Feldmans of Perth County and
how they spend Christmas. It's a festive time for this family and
reading about the traditions they follow is sure to bring on a
healthy dose of the Cristmas spirit. And Gertrud Feldman's
Christmas cookie recipes are excellent.
Enjoy our Christmastime Rural Voice and please accept the
wish from all of us here at the magazine that all of you have a
joyous holiday.
Merry Christmas and we'll see you in January.
